Yeah, the guy looks like a abused circus animal, a true freak of nature and is trying whatever he can to make it into the NBA and get his life back together. He has been through a lot with the surgeries, poverty in China, near death with his gland problem. Also his feet are in bad shape from being squeezed into small shoes so he doesn't have much endurance and/or skill. The very fact that he can walk at all and function at that height is a amazing in and of itself, let alone playing at the skill level needed to play in the NBA. The guy would sure draw people to see him so that is revenue generating so who knows.
So really as far as skill goes he wouldn't make the NBA, but as far as freakshow people would want to come see him play is another. He surely wouldn't be a starter, at least not anytime soon like Yao his small Chinese buddy!

Yao Ming is a rare combo of amazing size and skill and has no equal in the NBA or (in the world, most likely), the NBA for sure.
Prior to Yao there was Manute Bol at 7' 7" that was very skinny.
The point is with the NBA leaning towards small ball and a quick game of skill, the true Center is becoming extinct for the most part replaced with converted PFs who are slightly smaller for the most part and quicker/more athletic.
