Dick Motta, who spent 25 seasons coaching the NBA without having played basketball, was named Tuesday as winner of the National Basketball Coaches Association Lifetime Achievement Award. The 83-year-old former NBA coach won his only league crown with the Washington Bullets in 1978, finishing with a record of 935-1,017 in regular season games and 56-70 in playoff games from 1968 to 1997. "To win this award from my peers, my fellow coaches, is an honor and very much appreciated," Motta said.
