After reading that PDF I actually believe everything he says. I don't believe there is a single lie there. At worst there is the intentional use of those examples to draw attention and become exaggerated.

And I don't think it says anything shocking about the Kings-Lakers series. It just confirms that there was a bias by the officiating crew in Game 6, not that the league told them explicitly to do so.

Hahaha, wow. I'd forgotten how ridiculous that was. It's really pretty mind boggling how you can not only miss a call like that, but then claim it was legit later.

That game 6 was a joke and everyone (except Laker fans) have admitted as much over the last 6 years. Whether Donaghy has any proof, or is just stating the obvious like so many others have done, doesn't really matter to me now. I knew is was stolen from the Kings at the time it happened and I still know it 6 years later.

"Even if this is proven true, it's not gonna get me a flag or a ring. I hope it's not true because that would make it even worse."
That just about says it all for me. :(:confused:

I don't need someone to tell me something I already know. Nothing, not a #1 draft pick, or two or three or anything could change what happened and the affect it had on this franchise and this fanbase. This is one occasion where I'd say let sleeping dogs lie

I saw that. I really hope that it isnt true. And not for the sake of the NBA, but for the fact that it makes it hurt that much more for our fanbase and the players that deserved to win that title!

Take a perusal around forums for every team in the league tonight (well, save for Laker sites :)) ... everyone remembers this game, and remembers especially how completely obvious the slant was....

I foresee a meeting between David Stern and Tim Donaghy after Tim goes to prison. It will be late at night, outside in the common yard. Sterns makes smalltalk with Donaghy to make him comfortable then asks him if everything that came out about Game 6 is true. After Donaghy responds that its all true, David Stern smirks, glances towards the tower and slinks into the shadows as Donaghy gets sniped by an unknown assailant.

:p

Game 6 was the worst officiated game in NBA history. Anyone who watched the game knows that. Some naive observers still cling to comfortable assessments of the NBA. Revisionist history can be very comfortable.

I think it is interesting how a disgraced former referee just used a cheap tactic that is as common as brown dirt in American courts. Metaphorically, the popular protocol is to "throw massive amounts of excrement against the wall and see what sticks". Somehow, despite the popularity of this legal manuever in corporate America, government, academia, and the criminal justice system, crooked referees are not allowed to do such things.

Four words to finish my rant. The Samakee Walker shot.

Someone in the know finally ratted on Dick Bavetta and the others. It happened. Get used to the feeling.

PS. I would like to thank all of you who dropped the F-bomb on my behalf in this thread.

I've been curious about the why of this accusation myself -- certainly does not help him in its current form wihtout any specific support. My best guess, if it were not true, would be that it is just a supplement. That basically he only knows of a few instances of possibly shady behavior, butin an effort to make himself seem like a bigger fish for the feds, he si offereing up padding of the sort that everybody already suspects. SDo instead of I know of this little incident her, oh and this one here, he makes his help seem much grander and hints at more.

You are correct though that the feds would hone in on that in an instant, and I woulkd imagine if he is lying he would just vague it up and say I've cooperated -- I told you everything I know.

Of course the alternate is that its just one more piece of petty slime hurled back at the league which has turned its back at him. There will be a tell all/slime all book one day, you can bet on it.
When Mr. D was arrested, I predicted on this forum that he would eventually rat-out Stern, Bavetta, and the others. I really thought that the FBI was going that direction from the beginning. Sometimes it takes a long time for FBI threats, the court system, and generally intimidation to obtain results. Weasels usually sing. This ain't over folks.

Hall of Famer
Lakers coach Phil Jackson, speaking with reporters before Tuesday's Game 3 of the NBA Finals, stressed the need to wait for proof before any judgments are made, but was not shy to offer a low opinion of the officiating in the 2002 series.

"Was that after the fifth game, after we had the game stolen away from us on a bad call?" he said, referring to a game-changing play by Kings guard Mike Bibby in the final moments.

Well, fixed or not one thing is certain...PJ is still a ****

As much as we all know the refs sucked that night, it wont change the outcome. We still had a chance AT HOME IN ARCO to close it out. We choked! PERIOD!
