Morant unhappy

More I think about this the only scenario I'd be willing to go after Morant is if LaVine is outgoing. And maybe Memphis is okay with that? LaVine + 2-3 1sts for Morant? Basically reverse the deal we did with Fox. Memphis would be stacking 1sts between Sac/Mem/Orlando.

Then maybe we could move Demar + 1st for Kuminga at the deadline (unlikely right now?)

Another deal something like Carter/Saric for Naji Marshall in Dallas?

Morant/Schroder/Westbrook
Keon/Monk/Carter
Keegan/Nique
Kuminga/Saric
Sabonis/Precious/Eubanks

Not my 1st choice, but with how Vivek refuses to tank, this is actually someone of an exciting team. And you would still have some combo of Schroder, Saric, Monk, Carter to go add another PF.

If you get a Mac, you can just hold down the 'o' key while typing and the accenture options automatically pop up. Just saying.
I do opt-u then ‘o’ (actually back at my keyboard and confirmed now). Easy on a Mac for sure.

that long press trick definitely better when I don't know the secret accent hotkey though.

I suppose the Grizzlies might be willing to trade Jackson, Jr. to the Kings if you're willing to give up, like, all of your FRPs for the foreseeable future... Are you of the opinion that Jackson, Jr. is worth that much?
Are you of the opinion that Jaren Jackson Jr is worth 6 1st round picks and 3 1st round pick swaps?

My opinion is that Jaren Jackson, Jr. is worth more than whatever the Sacramento Kings will offer for him.
That’s neat…

You said the Grizzlies “might” be willing to trade Jackson if the Kings are willing to give up “all” of their first round picks for the “foreseeable future.”

Well…they have 6 1st round picks and 3 1st round pick swaps in their foreseeable future. Translation…you think the Grizzlies might be willing to trade JJJ for 6 1sts and 3 pick swaps. And the key word there is “might” which insinuates that you think that offer might not even be enough for Memphis to pull the trigger.

So I’ll ask again…are you really of the opinion that Jaren Jackson Jr is worth 6 1st round picks and 3 1st round pick swaps?

Don't eliminate the context: I said that in response to your seeming incredulity that I don't think that the Kings have the personnel to make an offer to the Grizzlies for Jaren Jackson, Jr. Based on the personnel the Kings have, I think that it would take the Kings all of their picks to get Jackson, Jr., because I don't think that there's any combination of players that Memphis would accept in exchange. So, as far as I'm concerned, whether I think that he's worth that much is irrelevant, because that what I think it would take for the Kings to get him.

Got it. So you do think it would take 6 1sts and 3 pick swaps to get JJJ. That’s certainly a take to have.

Also it’s hilarious that Ja, Malik, and Dennis are all somehow on the books for the same general amount of time so the cap hit doesn’t actually change that much for the Kings when it’s all said and done

If Orlando keeps this up we need to keep every assets we have for a Paolo move in the offseason not wasting it on this clown

If Orlando is looking to move Banchero because they can't build a winning team around him, what makes you think we will fare any better?

Taking chances beats looking for a franchise guy with the 11th pick

Because maybe Ja is becoming a net negative when everything is taken into consideration.

Doesn’t mean they’ll attach a good prospect to get rid of him they’ll be teams that would make an offer without wells getting included. Miami didn’t give up a single prospect trading butler and he was holding out with only one team willing to trade for him

The point is, if Paolo were a franchise guy he wouldn't be available. He's a 32% three point shooter volume scorer with turnover issues and passable defense. Kindof a Rudy Gay type. Probably he settles in as a decent #2 somewhere. That's not a guy I'm selling the farm to build around. Ja either, at this point, unless he's basically free.

At one point Ja Morant was supposedly the player that De'Aaron Fox thinks he is...
I think you’ve got it backwards. Ja Morant may be the flashier player, and his highlights might outshine Fox’s efficiency, but De’Aaron Fox is the steadier, more complete, and more sustainable choice, the kind of player you can actually build a winning culture around. His handle, mid-range, and floater game have all matured. He’s no longer just fast, he’s calculated. And unlike Ja, he competes on both ends of the floor.

Not sure when Fox supposedly thinks he’s the worse player who just gets overhyped for being flashy.

He's younger, I'll give you that.

It was just a jab aimed at an oft-memed comment that Amin Elhassan made on ESPN 5 years ago. I didn't mean it seriously.

Morant peaked in 2022 with his MVP run* and 2nd Team All NBA selection while Fox peaked a year later with his 3rd Team All NBA selection and Clutch Player of the Year award. Both guys have been pretty up and down since then but I personally think Fox is the better player and I've always thought he was the better player. Fox's shooting inconsistencies continue to hold him back from joining the league's elite playmakers but I don't see Morant leading the league in steals ever and I'm forever a defense-first basketball fan. At one point (in my pre-draft scouting) I thought Fox might have it in him to one day win a DPOY award but he went the way of becoming a leading scorer instead which is hard to fault him for since that's where all the money is.

*Some might quibble that finishing 7th in MVP voting isn't really an MVP run but his season averages and Memphis finishing with the 2nd best record in the league made him a legit MVP candidate that year in my eyes. The biggest knock against him was that he only played in 56 games.
