Monty had a harrowing start to his night...After the Roethlisberger accident, I think "riding a short motorcycle while wearing a long cape" will go on the list of things NOT to do. Glad they got him untangled before I became traumatized watching them have to rip his head off to get him undone. The doo-rag was a nice touch tho as was the not so subtle flashing of the bling while the SilverStars were introduced. Then when he came out later riding the motorcyle and trying to hold on to a big placard? I REALLY had to look away.
I have to say that the Brunson struggles are starting to make me teary-eyed just watching. She can hardly buy a basket right now. She went strong to the basket early and scored and I thought the cloud might have lifted and then she went on to miss a point blank shot then a few more. Then she took her designated seat for the 4th. I mean this is become so epically bad now I just hope her head stays on straight and they don't lose her mentally. Those shots HAVE to eventually start falling...I read the piece in the Bee today re: coach's displeasure with their FT shooting. Hadn't paid attention enough to notice that: Brunson's FT shooting is as bad as it was. Maiga's wasn't as good as I thought it was (it's better than it was when she first came in the league - but I thought she was over 50%for the year).
The two turnovers on consecutive in-bounds at the end of the first half kinda reminded me of the two 6 player on the court calls during a game against the Starzz a few years back. Glad coach called a time out at the end of the 2nd half with a lead to make sure they did not screw up getting the ball in so they could run the clock out.
They still looked clunky, but when their defense was clicking it was pretty. Always pretty watching this team get out and run in transition. Shooters took better shots (except for a couple of really funky ones by Powell and Lawson). I'm still perplexed at what they are trying to do that takes them 20 seconds of shot clock to pass the ball around. Even more perplexed at why some people insist on dribbling for at least 5 seconds of shot clock instead of continuing to at least move the ball around - dang, I don't even care if they shoot any more - at least pass the ball around to someone else. In their half court sets they lost at least 10 seconds to someone (often two someones) just standing and dribbling when their first pass option wasn't open.
I saw Eric Mussleman when he first came in the arena and sat down. 'Cept I didn't recognize him as him, I saw him and his group come in and then some young guy in shorts go over to say hello and exchange pleasantries with Mrs. Whisenant and I was trying to figure out who that kid was...then they introduce him later. He still doesn't look a day over 18 to me at times.
This apparently is Buescher's world now and we're all just guests....keep it up Erin!!
They got and created some help in the conference tonight, gotta just finish the job on Friday and Sunday. And then become road warriors.
