Harrison still has a ton of potential, but he's certainly not like a top shelf prospect anymore. Getting Devers without having to part with Eldridge is a massive W.

Dude is a BAT.

I was way over Hicks. Not a starter. Not a shutdown reliever either. Just mph with no real stuff behind it. Hitters aren’t fooled or overpowered.

Harrison still has potential but he needs another credible pitch to become a top line starter

any prospect not named Eldridge or Whisenhunt is fine by me.

Yeah but the fact we got one of the best hitters in baseball without giving up any of our truly premium prospects is ridiculous. Hicks is a good player, but he's replaceable. Harrison can still be very good, but he's still got work to do and outside of a few flashes here and there, he hasn't flashed that top rotation elite pitcher type of ceiling quite yet at the MLB level.

Basically Tibbs is the only outgoing piece to watch out for..in 2-3 years best case scenario. He’s legit but the Red Sox have already sent Harrison to AAA and Hicks is meh.

Just an awesome deal. Don’t even care they are about to lose 2 of 3 to the Bums.

I think the NBA equivalent of this is if like the Cavs traded us Mitchell (like the 15thish best player in the game) for DDR, Carter and Isaac Jones. It's a truly laughable haul on their end for one of the best hitters in baseball.

Now he might age poorly and he's truly horrific on defense (but hopefully he'll stick it to the Sox and just DH full time?), but the talent gap is just so absurdly in our favor.

I mean, at least the Mavs got back an All-NBA talent in that deal. Harrison WAS a top prospect, but as struggled to get established at the MLB level.

I truly can't believe they didn't get Eldridge or Whisenhunt. What the hell are they thinking? I honestly don't know how to process being on this side of the deal.

I feel like the whole deriving trade value from overall contract length et al has some merit in every single sport BUT baseball where there are no real rules and limits as far as money is concerned beyond what owners are willing to pay.
