It's a red raptor. The color of the Canadian flag is red but I don't think that is why the raptor is red. They just picked an analogous color palette.

The Bucks picked a complementry color palette giving them ugly christmas colors.

While we are talking about colors. The Lakers also have complementry colors of purple and yellow, but when those colors are placed next to each other the light that reflects off the purple is absorbed by the yellow causing receptors in your eye to see a blue appearance. This is why some people often think the lakers wear blue.
