Mike Brown Fired

You know the second Fox leaves/is traded, that swirling ball of hate is going to immediately bounce towards the poor bastard who moved him lol
Remember when there was a vocal minority who were calling Cousins a cancer, and were praising the trade, saying that it would be addition by subtraction? That worked out well, didn't it?

Could this be deeper than what we know? Mike Brown clearly threw Fox under the bus last night, he’s due for a new contract. The Kings obviously want a good relationship with Klutch, if Rich Paul made the call and said Brown has to go because his statements are hurting our client, do the Kings fire him to appease Klutch?

I get on a plane for two hours and this happens?

Insane.

Love Doug, great to see him get a chance, but they passed up at least two guys who were in front of him in the pecking order.

Whole thing looks very Kangz. Hope it turns out well.
Sure but one of those guys is Jay Triano (picture is in the dictionary next to “Failed Interim Coach”) and the other is Luke Loucks (has largely failed after his promotion to defensive coordinator, actually has less front of bench experience than Doug)

Total dumbass move by a dumbass weak owner. McNair and Fox will be next. It's just a question of when. I'm so PO'd at Fox right now that I hope he's in basketball hell on this team for as long as possible. He deserves everything he's going to get, and he will get a lot. There are consequences to pay when you get your HC fired and you don't take responsibility for your losing team. It's a gutless move. Very bad karma. There is no way to go but down for this team. I feel for guys like Sabonis and Murray who come to play every night and are going to suffer greatly because of the Fox clown show.

If Christie is coach, goooooooood luck. Now he will experience basketball hell. He seems like a nice guy, and nice guys are great for assistant coaches, commiserating with the complaints of the players, giving them a lot of "Attaboys." But HC is an entirely different situation, especially when you know the guy you're following just got fired because of Fox's insubordination. Yeah, whatever you do, don't get Fox mad at you, Christie. Maybe you can mow his lawn. HA HA HA.

I’m not backing up Fox, I want him traded. I’ve never believed in him as a title contending franchise man. Too inconsistent, too passive.
I've been a Fox supporter since day one. A hardcore one. But I have to admit that my support has been wavering in recent weeks.

Perhaps it's the Rich Paul effect. IDK. But all this talk recently of De'Aaron putting pressure on the org to show him where they're going in order to get him to re-sign just irritated the **** out of me.

Look dude. You're the franchise player already being paid like a franchise player. And they've given you a lot of help. If you are as good as you think and as good as some of us believe --- this team shouldn't be losing like it is. Last night's game was a microcosm of what's been going on the past two seasons, really, but even more so this season. And it isn't like De'Aaron hasn't played a big part in it.

Now, having said that, do I believe that Mike Brown is part of the problem too? YES. I think this team's offensive strategy is majorly flawed. They continue to play the same way despite not proving that their strategy is consistently effective. Even when they play well for much of the game, they typically still find ways to play poorly enough for a long enough stretch to blow big leads. To me, that's mostly on the HC. Last night (not having the team foul when the clock was under 10 seconds) was also on the coach IMO (as well as De'Aaron for his defense).

And more than that, Coach Brown was hailed as defensive coach. And this team's defense has rarely lived up to the hype. It's arguably been their biggest weakness since he's been the coach. He's not found a way to fix it. Roster makeup is surely part of the problem, but as far as I can tell Brown has say in the types of players he wants to coach. So it isn't all just on Monte McNair either.

I absolutely HATE that we're back on the coaching instability train so soon again. One of the reasons I have been against the firing of Coach Brown when the topic has been brought up over the past couple seasons is this franchises history of running through coaches. You can't keep hiring and firing coaches so frequently and not have it be a huge negative. At some point you need to settle on a guy you believe to be capable and stick with him for a much longer haul.

But as long as the players on the current roster continue to be prioritized over the HC, specifically a franchise that isn't winning, this is what you're going to continue to get. It's exactly what we have been getting for the past 18 years.

If you had one player carrying the team to a winning record, but was clearly being held back by poor coaching -- I could see choosing to side with the players. But when the team is missing postseasons and underachieving to the degree this team is, and no player looks like the second coming of Michael Jordan, I just can't side with the players. Go get some new ones. Because changing out the coach every 1-3 seasons stigmatizes the franchise and furthers instability.

Circling back to Swipa, if he's worth the contract he's going to demand --- the pressure should be squarely on HIM, not the franchise. But it seems these players and their agents believe they can have it both ways. They believe they are worthy of the bank breaking contract but don't believe they should carry the pressure of proving their worth.

Sure, every player needs some level of help around them. It's a "team" game after all. But it's not as if De'Aaron is playing with a bunch of g-leaguers. We all know this.

IMO, this team has a very small window now to prove that they were being mismanaged by the head coach. If they manage to turn things around with Doug Christie or whomever is named the interim coach -- GREAT! But assuming that nothing changes by season's end -- I think I would start changing out the parts that aren't fitting together. And that includes Domas and Fox.

At some point the players need to be held accountable too.

The fact is not one person on this forum knows whether or not Doug is a good coach or not. I’m happy to give him a chance but to me we have many more pressing issues. I do think Mike lost the locker room i just tend to think that is a player/leadership issue. Guys like Monk and Fox aren’t the the right type of leaders and Domas is not vocal enough. Brown is best on a veteran team or a start up. We were supposed to be the former

I’m finding it a bit surprising some are shocked by this. Listening to Deuce and Mo, others in the local media. I’m not ”happy” this happened but not surprised in the least. I know it’s easy to say another Vivek kangz move, but the last month of play was a disaster. You get swept on a five game road trip, that’s one thing….but for this losing streak to happen at home, in the manner it has, this is a decision that happens with most teams.

This change will not save the season. Fox will be gone by the offseason. Monte probably gone. Doug will not be named the permanent head coach. I doubt it will be a full rebuild, but definitely a new direction.

James Ham was on with Dlo a while ago and he said it was an embarrassment how it went down. Apparently coach went through a practice and he was fired not 10 minutes afterward.

actually it was a guy from news 10 local station here in Sacramento who was also at practice who said it was unprofessional how the firing went down today. Ham just agreed with him, saying that the way it went down was bad PR.
