Mike Boyd dies at 74

Im shocked this hasn't been mentioned.

For those who didnt know, Mike was a fantastic reporter for KCRA for over 40 years. He covered the crime beat for a majority of that time.

Wow. I'd heard he was in the hospital but didn't know he had died.

My heartfelt condolences to his family. I actually met Mike a couple of times when he came up here into the forest to cover breaking stories. He was warm, he was incredibly funny, and he was a true reporter. He didn't just read what someone else had written. He got the facts, he asked the questions, and he wrote his stories. He's a dying breed and he will truly be missed.

RIP, Mr. Boyd. I hope they leave one of your hats on the coatrack as a tribute. You earned it.

RIP. I remember him and that voice from when I was a little kid, at home watching TV with my Mom, all they way up through the years.

Sad to hear. The Duhain piece was a very nice retrospective on his career. For a non anchor (or sportscaster) he definitely was someone I remember very well.

Wow. I was shocked when I heard this Friday night. He just seemed like such a decent, solid journalist, and those are hard to find these days.
