I do find the narrative a bit funny, because Vlade got killed for his I had a better deal two days ago comment. That deal was settled until Cousin’s agents torpedoed it. So instead of two firsts, the Kings only got one. Or how fans are absolutely certain that Petrie would’ve picked Giannis after he said he would a few years after Giannis blossomed in the NBA. For every Peja, Petrie picked a Douby.

If the Sacramento Kings were a person, this is what would be inscribed on their tombstone. Perhaps the greatest international player of all time was there for the taking and our GM who built his reputation on scouting international players was ready to pounce on him but because of an ownership change we biffed it. And then we had a second chance at another elite international prospect from the same part of the world as our celebrated international superstar turned GM and biffed it again. It's almost like poetry.

I would say Monte barely passes right now. We didn't start a rebuild, nor we improved. Surely he didn't lose a trade because he didn't make any significant ones. And he shouldn't be complimented for the trade he failed to make. There are deals out there for him to make. Either we enter a complete rebuild or he pull off some trades to save his ass, I don't see him staying beyond summer because the team remains the same mess after his 2-year reign.
