Memorable/Favorite Kings Moments of the Decade?

Disgruntled Kings Fan
Well so Christmas is coming up and so passes another year and it is unbelievable how fast things pass. The decade is coming to an end and there were good and bad times, so to end the year with a bang lets have everyone post their favorite/most memorable Sacramento Kings related moments/games/whatever here!

The 2009 NBA Draft was held on June 25, 2009, the WaMu Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. In this draft, National Basketball Association (NBA) teams took turns selecting amateur U.S. college basketball players and other eligible players, including international players.

The Kings coming off from a horrendous turmoil filled 17 win season, had some more bad luck with an impending 4th pick.

With hype surrounding Ricky Rubio in europe, some thought of him to be the savior for the Kings Franchise.....

With the 4th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft the Sacramento Kings select...

to this date, the Kings have a record of 13-14

Also coming along with the Kings 4th pick in the draft were Fiery Rookies Omri Casspi of Israel and Tough Minded Jon Brockman , a friend and teammate of Spencer Hawes..

Id have to say the Conference finals was my kings moment of the decade...so painful yet so much fun! I have a feeling within a few years we might be making some NEW conference finals memories:D

My Top 5 Kings Moments of The Decade: (5-1 in order of importance)

5. The entire Jason Williams Era
- My favorite King EVER....The reason I got into basketball in the first place....My childhood and adulthood sports idol. Enough said......

I can't single out any particular moment, with the exception of a moment that isn't even related to the team.....I was playing some 5 on 5 at Sac State during April of 2008, and had a fastbreak....

I was sprinting downcourt with the ball, and managed to pull off a perfect elbow pass to my teammate on a 2-on-1 break...It was delivered perfectly, totally faked out the defender, and he made the layup....My own personal favorite sports moment ever....My tribute to J-Will...Something I had always wanted to do, since I was a kid.

4. Tyreke Evans' steal on Arenas
- So recent, yet so amazing. This team has been struggling for a long time, and that game-clinching play signals the beginning of a very bright future....I was at the game, which made it that much more special.

3. The Comeback
- One of the most amazing games ever. This team is special......Tyreke's shot, Brockman's hustle...Udoka's clutch 3s....It had EVERYTHING.

2. The trading of Chris Webber
- So emotional.....The end of an era.....It was sad, but it helped remind us of the incredible era we had just witnessed.

1. The shot
- Mike Bibby's 2 point jumper in Game 5 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals....Biggest shot in franchise history.

The conference finals was the most emotional I have ever been as a sports fan. I think I was pissed about it for at least a week.

Game 3 of the Kings Wolves series. It was a comeback in the fourth if I remember correctly. Peja led us to OT but lost by one. That was a pretty good series.

Another one of the most memorable was the retirement ceremony for Chris Webber

it really gave alot of closure on the end of an era and gave some recognition to players like Christie and Pollard.. it showed that fans in sacramento still appreciate good basketball

Thats my #3 darkest day of the decade.

Lots of great memories.

The lakers Kings conference finals was one of the most amazing moments in ALL of psorts for me, and I have watched my Dallas cowboys win 4 Super Bowls. That series is simply put, why all of us watch sports. Every player associated with that series should be proud of that thing.

Christie smacking Fox in the jaw in a PRESEASON game! Shows why that rivalry was one of the best in all of sports for a few years. They truly HATED each other.

I dont know what year it was, but the Utah Kings series in the first round of the playoffs. The Kings were predicted to get swept, and for me, that was the year the Kings truly became an elite team. That series showed we were getting ready for a run.

Webber knocking Stockton on his arse while he was coming thorugh the lane WITHOUT the ball in the first offensive set for the Jazz in the playoffs. Webber was sending a message. It was premeditated and that is a leader with some toughness and nastiness that this team today can learn from.

Having Vlade in Sacramento for as long as we did.

Doug Christie crying when he was traded from Sacramento and his return to Sac for Vlade's jersey retirement. Have you ever seen a player that had such love for a city that they cried when they were traded? That is the passion and desire that so many of us complin is lacking in too many of today's athletes.

Boy were we lucky to share in that teams run. We were better off with that team than the Heat fans were with their team that won a title.

Thats all good stuff. I feel privileged to be a Kings fan. The wife and I had season tickets during that era. A couple kids and my wife becoming a stay at home mom has turned us into TV fans, but hey The Kings are looking good on my Sony LCD:)

I do agree it was during that Jazz series that the Kings became an elite contender.

My personal favorites as well.

I remember an odd game that sticks in my memory. It was just a regular season game. It was the season after the notorious conference finals where the Lakers went on to play the Nets and won easily. We were in NJ for our Nets game, a nationally televised game.

The national media was all over the Nets saying "What if you'd gotten to play the Kings in the finals?" And the Nets saying "Yeah, we wish we'd gotten the Kings, we'd have won, no problem." They were all cocky.

Then we went out there with Bibby, Webber, Divac, Christie, and Stojakovic and just pounded the Nets. It was a slaughter. Total domination.

Loved it.

This really was a great decade for the Kings, lots of heartache, but great nontheless. There a lot of things that stick out in mind, just off the top of my head:

A stretch of games on the road, an East Coast trip 6 or 7 games I think, in the 02 season (I think) where the Kings have 7-8 players available to suit up and I think they make one guy suit (with no intention to play) up just to have enough numbers. They end up winning all but one or two games.

Webber. The MVP caliber year, the knee, the heartache, the comeback, the trade.

The standing ovations for returning players and retiring players. Not a Kings moment per se, but John Stockton's last regular season game that left him in tears.

That first playoff series win in 2001.

Not a moment, but the camaraderie and chemistry of the 01-03 teams and our bench that could win the East!

So many more.... :)

One that stands out for me: An injured Doug Christie, already in the locker room, comes back onto the court when Peja is hurt and plays with more heart than I think I have ever seen before or since.
