To set the record straight...

The face on the left was not a happy one! My wife and kids waited in line (164th from the front) four hours, only to have the tickets handed out to a huge crush of fans who bolted past the line. Obviously a huge disappointment for them and apparently many more folks who waited with them. Sounds like the Kings PR folks need to work on their crowd control system for these appearances.
I had a similar experience to the above.
I arrived at about 3:30 p.m. I had no idea how many people were ahead of me but it looked to me to be around 200 people or so. Then a woman standing in line near me said she had counted about 210 people ahead of us, so we all felt good about our chances.
At about 4:45 p.m., a woman who represented the group that hosted the event told us she would return to hand out tickets that would entitle us to meet Bibby and get his autograph. Big mistake there because that provided us with false hope and would later upset a lot of parents.
The time had come and gone, yet no tickets for any of us. Turns out all of the tickets were handed out to 300 people already. So, one woman went to see where the last ticket was given out to and how many people were between that person and our group. Basically, we went from about 210th in line to about 350th.
Despite asking the woman who represented the group that hosted the event, she told us she was sorry and that people have no morals and there was nothing she could do about it. When asked why didn't she hand out the tickets earlier when the lines appeared thin, she said she could not do it until after 5 p.m. She then told us we could always try again at another player appearance. That did not get over well with the parents as they brought their children out to meet Bibby and stand in the cold weather for over three hours.
Many people believed that Maloof Sports and Entertainment was behind the event.
Turns out that is not the case.
I decided to contact a MSE employee I had worked with in the past (I was an intern at KHTK Sports 1140am two years ago) and set the record straight.
I was told this was not a Kings-sponsored event. Instead it was done by Bibby's agent and Good Guys, so that probably explains the chaos and why they were unorganized.
I've already e-mailed the marketing department of MSE. Hopefully I will receive a reply from them on this subject matter.
