Interesting. Is that breaking news, or just uninformed talk?

If it's true, that means either two or three more seasons guaranteed depending on the definition of "2014 season". Of course, given that the same sentence lists the Maloofs as the "owners" of the Palms, I suspect the journalist probably hasn't bothered to check all the facts too deeply.

Exactly. This article is not well written. I did ask the writer for their basis on the 2014 information.

NBA commissioner spoke to the media about the issue on Friday, noting that the current plan is for the team to stay through 2014 in Sacramento but may likely be headed elsewhere afterwards.

Thanks for posting the clarification. I recall Stern saying when asked if Kings were moving after new arena deal collasped in his usual carefully worded way, "they won't be leaving for now." That was interpreted that they would obviously play 2012-13 season in Sacramento but after that it was less clear. This new interpretation seems to indicate Kings will be here through 2013-14 season as well, but after that it's way less clear - like everything else about poorhouse Maloofs and their Section 8 gym.

So the Maloofs have worked this well. They let everyone work their *** off coming up with an arena and with a simple "no" they get to move anyway. They simply don't want to be here. React in anyway you think fit. We at least take the award for being the franchise in the most disarray.

This is what confuses me. The Maloofs by being pig headed jerks will get to leave despite the fact that the city has done what they wanted, the NBA was going to forward the entire arena cost that otherwise would have been paid by the Maloofs plus a gift of several million, and it has been proven that Sacramento can support and NBA team. No team could ask for anything more unless the Lakers and Clippers left LA and the Kings were allowed to move there.

They are getting nothing from me and if it hurts the players, tough ****. I personally can only take so much and besides the players will all become multi-millionaires and it is difficult for me to feel sorry for them on any level. They are playing the game they love and becoming rich at the same time. I worked at a job I hated and still didn't get rich. Boo! Hoo! to the players.

The players will be fine. It's all the arena employees that I feel sorry for. The Maloofs laid a lot of people off in 2009. They have been cutting hours for remaining employees, so they don't have to pay any benefits for them.

Anyway, I'll probably go to the same number of games. I can't afford to be a season ticket holder, but I manage several games a year. Also, I'm a Kings fan. I'll be there to cheer on my team.

I don't think it's over in Sacramento yet. I think the Maloofs aren't going to find it easy to get out of Sacramento. I'm not saying it won't happen, I just think there's more to happen, before we reach any kind of endgame here.

I absolutely refuse to succumb to "the sky is falling" panic after every article that mentions the Kings will possibly move. It's just not worth the angst. This article in particular is poorly written and not based on anything other than mere speculation IMHO.

The sky isn't falling, but at work I have someone trying to convince me that I can't assume its blue without any written documentation. I can't wait to retire soon.
