Matt Barnes

Barnes has played very well and he has played a lot of tough minutes. I hope he can keep it up. So far we've needed to have him play as many minutes as he has. I'm sure coach is aware and he is a good manager of his people and their minutes.
 
Nice to see KF's finally coming around on Barnes.

I advocated for him coming back to the Kings for years - he's IMO the most underrated (and underpaid for his production and impact) NBA player for the past 10 years.

I feel about KF's the way Rod Tidwell did about the Arizona Cardinals finally coming around at 1:35 in this clip:

Well, we did have Barnes when he was 24. Unfortunately we didn't give him a chance to breakout like he did for GSW a couple seasons later.
 
The emphasis on defense has Casspi on the outside looking in right now. He's going to have to bring more entensity on that end to earn that PT, which I think he can do.

If we had brought Matt back before this season, it most likely would not have worked out. The stars are aligning now because Vlade has worked very hard to put together the right players.
 
I didn't like all those vet signings this offseason, except maybe Barnes. Hopefully he got enough juice left in his tank.

That may be so, but:
* that wasn't because of any fault of Matt's. That was because the Kings franchise was in disarray and dysfunction that whole time they could have used his toughness.
and
* many KF's (including yourself) still didn't want Matt coming here even this year, where he is obviously needed and effective.
 
Leading by example. One of the things that has been missing is veteran presence. He brings it. The new veterans have already helped the Kings avoid "playing not to lose" in the fourth quarter.

??? Are you sure I said that? I've liked Matt Barnes since I first saw him play as a rookie.

Well, in this post from 6/15/15, you said "No" to picking up Barnes when the Hornets waived him in the Lance Stephenson trade.

Maybe I'm mis-reading your "No" and you meant it as "Yeah, Matt would be a great pickup for us - provides gritty play and I've liked him since he was a rookie!"

Hrm. Since I neglected to include any kind of rationale for my response and I don't even remember making the post, I can't argue with what's there in print. You're probably right, though.
