Matt Barnes?

I'd consider a cheap contract like Casspi if we are going to play Rudy at the 4 a lot. I think his play is dropping off but he does bring some intangibles to this roster.

Can he go back to the Clippers after Charlotte waives him?

As far as I know a waived player can resign with the team that traded him as long as he waits 30 days to do so. This is the so-called "Gary Payton rule".

But first Barnes would have to clear waivers. Only $1 million of his salary is guaranteed if he's waived before July 1st but I'm assuming any team that claims him off waivers would be on the hook for the full $3.5 million.

Would a team claim him off waivers for $3.5 million? I don't know. He's 35 with a penchant for fines and suspensions which is why Doc Rivers has been trying to move him for a while now.

Which is also why I'm not sure the Clips would want him back.

But if they did they'd return their same starting five and essentially have swapped Hawes for Stephenson as bench players. That'd be a pretty slick move. Especially since I think Lance is only a good pickup for them if he's coming off the bench and allowed to handle the ball a lot. Being in the starting lineup with CP3 limits his effectiveness IMO. But off the bench he'd be the Clippers version/a poor man's Iguodala.

I think they changed it to 1 season

Just what Kings need, another wing player who can't shoot. Besides all the head case baggage.

But also the tough defensive minded baggage.

Frankly when your wings are all sweet good natured kids who probably go shoe shopping with their girlfriends and had perfect attendance in school, you could use a head case or two to stiffen them up when the big mean boys come to knock their yogurt cups away.

I'd rather have Casspi. He was the Kings best bench player last season and even started shooting really well from outside under Karl.

I wouldn't mind both. More toughness = better.

Given a choice I'd take Omri at this point though. Not only proved he could thrive here last year, wants to be here, but is also younger, appeared to have gotten over his youthful arrogance and worked chemistrywise etc.

Buy low and in the gutter option Stephenson is gone now.

Barnes won't last either.

Key is buying low, not sure who else will come around.

Why not? Good defender, can hit corner 3's, plays hard, plays in his role and will step up for his teammates.
He is old, but for the right price he should be a valuable piece for a young team like the Kings.

I think, either Lakers or Knicks will claim him off the waivers: getting a rotation wing for $3.5 million is a bargain for them considering their lack of assets and money (obviously, they have a lot of cap space, but both teams need to attract at least a couple of quality players each, and those will cost $10+ million this summer). Kings won't even have a decision to make.

Matt Barnes should have been a King the past 9 seasons.
They never should have given him up - he's been (inarguably IMO) the best player for the little money he gets for almost a decade.
For some reason, he is unappreciated and demonized every place he's been, even though whatever team he's on, who is on the floor in the playoffs constantly making impactful, hard-nosed plays?

The Clippers do not beat the Spurs this year without Matt Barnes.
But they're giving him up for peanuts like HE was the problem? Ridiculous.

I think he's the kind of hard-nosed baller that Demarcus would like playing with.
The Kings should absolutely pick him up - he's the most consistent value for the money in the entire league, for years.

I heard he had his "Sactowns Finest" tattoo removed. Is that true?

Also, the guy goes above and beyond to portray this bad boy image he wants - it's extremely annoying. No way I want him in this city or around this team.

I've played a lot of ball as a kid with him, I'm older than him, knew him. He was a nice kid, a good kid growing up. He may have changed later, but at the time I never saw that side of him.

Seems like a three and D player the Kings could use. He is also one of those guys you don't like when he is on the OTHER TEAM:)

If we want some local guy let's get Festus Ezeli (proving to be solid back up center) graduated from Jesuit High and Yuba Community College. I'd much rather have his young raw talent than fading 35 year old Barnes. I think Festus is RFA next year. Oh, that's right he was born in Nigeria. But then again so was Hakeem Olajuwon.

He had some good plays in game 6. Interesting enough the Warriors went away from Bogut towards the end of the series. I wonder if they plan on keeping him or trading him away, as it showed they played better in the playoffs with him on the bench. He was a defensive anchor during the season, though. I'm sure they will be looking to shave some contracts off (Bogut/Lee) to clear room to max out Draymond.
