Matt Barnes Reportedly Attacks Derek Fisher

Kelly Dwyer and Tom Ziller are the bestest of buds, so I don't find that unusual.

If I am to define 'acting like a man' in this instance it would go like this:Situation is an attraction and potential relationship with one of your old brothers-in-arms baby mother. One that you know has mental issues aka anger issues. The potential for a negative confrontation is extremely high. Especially being that there are kids involved. First plan of action, make sure that the potential for a lasting relationship is known before jumping in to 'future step-dad' territory. Second course of action, let it be known that you will continue on whatever course of action you choose because no other dude can tell you who you can date and if they want to try then we can settle this like men at a neutral location. Like Craig's dad says, put up your dukes. Now you a man.
From Barnes account (and I TOTALLY agree with you, I don't trust dude either) he seems to have been blindsided by Fisher being at HIS home in front of HIS kids. Now I am a father, and protecting my kids is VERY high in my list of priorities. Whether Barnes is using that as an excuse is known only by him. But if I felt that my kids were in a situation where they weren't comfortable I would be there faster than all crap.
I definitely understand your take, i just think this situation couod have been avoided if Fisher had been smarter about it and less slimy, as he has a reputation for being. I don't agree with a lot of peoples perception that a woman is a mans property, I think she should be able to do what she wants. However, the one thing that makes this very suspicious to me about how low Fisher might have stooped is that this is not the first time Barnes and old girl have been estranged, and the previous time Barnes was very nonchalant about the whole thing. This leads me to believe that it isn't so much what she did, it was WHOM she did and HOW he and she did it.

That looks pretty consistent with what Dwyer had to say, as well.

There's something disturbingly patriarchal in this whole notion of a man's ex being "out of bounds" to, basically any other man he's ever been in contact with, for reasons that essentially boil down to "dibs."
I don't know about that. Not when there are kids involved. Who knows what kinds of things Fisher could be saying about Matt behind his back, in front of his kids. That's really the angle I come at this with. If you are going to be around my kids in a father figure role, we need to make a few things clear. The whole issue I have with this is if a man is going to date another mans baby mama, unless things are talked about in a man to man fashion, there are going to be dust ups. Like this one. Women can be vindictive and sneaky when they want. I think it should have been up to Fisher to tell his ex teammate what was going down that way the issue with the kids being involved could have been handled much bet

What?

We have a long-standing tradition around here of not discussing social issues. At this point, I think that's where this thread is headed...and that's why I'm closing it.
