Matt Barnes info!

*JW*

G-League
I go to Mike Bibby camp and Matt Barnes is there everyday practicing. Today during our talk with Matt Barnes a littler kid asked " What team do you play for?" and Matt replied " I'm a free agent but I'll be on the Kings or the..... Spurs but I'd prefer the Kings." Just thought Id let you know incase anyone was wondering. I hope this hasnt been posted yet or I hope you dont know about it.

I was bummed when Matt was traded away with Webb. It would be great to have him back on the Kings roster. Hey GP - Bring the local kid back home to Sacramento!

I wish he could go back to Sacramento myself. I like him as a player so I'd like for him to stay here in Philly but only if he were to get some good minutes which I don't know would happen. Sixers have Mo Cheeks now so maybe Barnes would get some playing time. But I know he wants to get back to Sac so I hope he does. I liked him on the Kings. He played very well, thats why it sucked to see him benching in Philly. Well Good Luck Matt!!

Anywhere but San Antonio, Matt, please!!!

I would love to see Matt back...But only for spot minutes, and times when we need an energy boosts.

Then there's also a chance he can actually become a full-time, and quite usuful/important, backup, as he's shown flashes of consistency, and is only 25/26.

we need someone to back up peja.... peja, mike and brad need to cut their minutes down to a little over 30 mpg....

Barnes did quite well last year, and when he had to slot in, he did well just like Mo. He was also our best guy off the bench next to Evans. I'd love to see Matt back, he's been working on his shot since he got to Philly too. I bet Evans has been doing the same thing this summer, along with ball-handling.

I completely agree with Kings113, I would love to see Matt Barnes in a Kings uniform as well. I think we are the best team for Matt and I also think we have not seen the rest of him!

I would love to see Matty back. He was really starting to come into his own. He was also starting to show a little more maturity and thought in his play. It would be a real boost to the fans.

I say Sacramento goes after Matt in a heartbeat if Corliss gets wrapped up in some Trade Deal. He's bouncy, athletic, agressive and can shoot some.

At some point, the head office is going to have to do something to soothe the feelings of a LOT of Kings fans.

I think resigning Matt Barnes would be a step in that direction. He has the heart, he has the desire AND he knows he's a role player. I think it would be an excellent move to make...and like others, I sure as heck don't want to see him joining the ranks of the San Antonio Spurs.

VF21-Question?!!!! Because I am realtively new to this whole fandom thing. Only being a real Sac. fan for about 5 years and never really following like I did this year, my question is......Do they really take the fans into consideration when making trades etc...?

I would usually say "no" because the Kings have been lucky enough to have a very enthusiastic rabid fan base right from the beginning. The Maloofs inherited it when they bought the team...

In the past couple of years, however, the Maloofs have not done all they could have IMHO to ensure the continuing support of some of the most rabid, loyal fans - the season ticket holders who have continued to spend more and more money for the privilege of watching a product that has declined in value (if you're looking at how they finish as indicative of how valuable they are).

Ticket prices have continued to rise and the Maloof organization has actually cut back on the "perks" season ticket holders get. That IMHO is a big mistake...

Matt Barnes won the heart of the local fans because he was from the home town. He spoke often of having one big dream, "to play for the Sacramento Kings." He is a home town favorite, well-liked, articulate, able to walk and chew gum at the same time, and he knows the value of being a role player on a good to elite team.

If the organization ISN'T considering that in their decision about Matt, they need to be. With everything else that is happening - or not happening as in the arena - the fans desperately need something/someone to rally around. I firmly believe Matt Barnes could be that something...

Don't get me wrong. I'm still a fan, and most of the people I'm referring to are still fans. It would just be nice to have something about the Kings to feel good about for a change, and a "home town boy does good" story certainly would fill the bill.
