In all the excitement and celebration over Martin's shot to win game 3, something may have been overlooked.

Kevin Martin, of Zanesville, Ohio, and a second-year member of the Sacramento Kings, made Kings history on April 28. 2006. He became the FIRST Kings player to EVER win a Kings playoff game at the buzzer.

Yep. The Kings had NEVER won a playoff game at the buzzer before. We talked about it but I didn't really realize Kevin is now in the record books forever.

Future game winners will be mentioned and the comment will most likely be something like this:

"And Smith wins with a fantastic shot at the buzzer!! It's only the (second, third, fourth, etc.) time that's ever happened. The first, as everyone knows, was done by Kevin Martin back on April 28, 2006 against the San Antonio Spurs in a pivotal game that..." I'm not filling in the last part of that sentence but use your imagination to its fullest.

So, once again, props to Kevin and props to Mike Bibby for the steal and assist that made it possible.

:D

What about Mike Bibby's shot against the Lakers?? Was that not at the buzzer?

Anyways, congratulations to Martin! I hope we keep him in the long-term.

No, it wasn't. The Lakers had a chance to get that game back but didn't score.

Congratulations, Kevin. I expect this is only the first of many "record setting" events for our Sacramento Kings.

This win of his has to help his mental status. He has come a long way in two years. What if he starts taking over games like some elite player? Is that possible?

I think so. Kevin was one of the best shooters in the NBA before his injury and had a big game in Game 2 which we should have won, and won the game for us in Game 3. He does show the glimmer of brillance that in time I think he will dominate and be a great player. At the very least I love his athletism, something we haven't seen since we lost Gerald Wallace.

Kevin Martin will be hearing my cheers from the other side of the country tonight.

That doesn't really surprise me since he was the only one to win it at the buzzer since true "buzzer-beaters" do not happen often, but it sure feels good, and I don't see how St. Martin couldn't be swelling with (much-deserved) confidence.
