Marquis Daniels to PACERS

For Austin Croshere.

Austin Croshere's career with the Indiana Pacers appears to be over.

The Pacers have agreed to trade Croshere to the Dallas Mavericks for guard Marquis Daniels, according to people with knowledge of the situation.
The deal can't become official until July 12 when teams can complete trades and free agent signings.

Croshere was the longest-tenured Pacer, spending nine seasons with the team. He became expandable with the addition of draftee Shawne Williams and with the Pacers trying to become more athletic. Croshere is also entering the final year of his contract. He averaged 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds during his career with the Pacers.

Daniels averaged 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three seasons with the Mavericks.

The trade for Daniels is the first of what could be several moves by the Pacers this summer. They're also interested in acquiring former Pacer Al Harrington from the Atlanta Hawks.

Well Indy gets what they wanted. They've been wanting him for awhile now (especially the fans).

Good deal for Indy, and good news for us with Bonzi. :)

im happy for pacer fans, daniels will help their team, and they can get rid of jackson now

they might want croshere because he's expiring, or to add depth to the bench, not sure

Wow, that's pretty shocking. I guess Dallas thinks Croshere can play the Keith Van Horn role.

Cap relief prolly.

YESSSS I am so psyched about this. Marquis is the guy I've wanted for a long time.

We get some who can actualy create off the dribble, someone that makes Jax expendable, and for almost nothing! I LOVE this! What a great day!

Congratulations to our Pacer fan friends. Daniels should be a good pick-up for you.

Think Jackson has to be on the way out now. Not a bad move for either team. Puts the Daniels for Mike James S&T rumors to rest now, no?

Pacers now have at SG/SF:

Quis
Granger
Shawne Williams
White
Stephen Jackson

Nice.

I assume Croshere replaces Van Horn (backing up Dirk anyways), tougher and hustles more.

And you know I think those are the PERFECT shoes for him to fill... over priced contract based on one good season followed by a career of underacheivemnt. DUMB move for Dallas... Bird showing some Petrie like mind controll.

Kings fans should be happy also, because I think this means that Bonzi is not coming to the Pacers. Although this trade is too good to pass up whether Bonzi is coming here or not

I am happy as a Pacer fan (runner up to the Kings of course). I like Daniels and he will do well in Indy.

I don't think Bonzi was going to the Pacers anyway, but you never know. And, you are right....Bonzi or no, it was too good a deal to pass up, and those don't come along often enough.

Gah. That's too bad; I like Daniels...

I'm also apparently the only Kings Fan on this board that doesn't like the Pacers...

:: shrugs ::

I spent many of my young years in Illinois, just north of Chicago; I don't like the Pacers, and I'm not crazy about the Bulls, either.

Hehehe! North of Chicago...as in, Cook County? That isn't Illinois. I lived in the heartland of Illinois. It is closer to Indianapolis than it is to Chicago. I'm not crazy about the Bulls either. ;)

As in Lake County.

And if it isn't Illinois, then what the hell is it? Because it sure as heck isn't Wisconsin.

Cook County not being part of Illinois is a long standing joke to those of us from Central and Southern Illinois. The metropolis that is Cook County bears no resemblance to the rest of the state.:p

I don't like the Pacers either... not sure why Dallas does this deal unless it saves them money. Marquis seemed to step up quite a bit in the Finals though.

It is for us (Bonzi), and for the Pacers they get a pretty good young, versatile swingmen. Croshere fills the KVH role better, and Indy dumps his salary.

besides likely taking indy out of the bonzi running i stand by my original statement. and i could care less what needs of dallas/pacers were met in this deal. and for the record, i have never been high on daniels and even less so now. the kid has not improved in 3 years and is what he is. no upside there, imo. so again.. eh.
