We can agree to disagree and I do understand your point. This is just a tragic incident and at least 3 peoples lives(all seemed to be pretty decent people who made a really bad decision) are changed forever. I feel bad for the guys kid and any other family members.

I'm about the same age(A little younger) as these guys and I have 3 kids of my own and I just couldn't see myself getting into this type of a situation.....

On this we agree 100%!

I think there is a big divide with how men and how women look at this issue, in fact there was an article to this effect in I think the bee earlier this week.

I agree with RoyalDiva but can see your point too Ryle...its just a shame for everyone involved...

While it is, indeed, tragic that this happened it is obviously not nearly over. The family of the victim has hired a high profile attorney who has made a public statement that this was, at the very least, Manslaughter II and should be prosecuted by the DA. So now we'll have tragedy turned into profit for news people and lawyers at the expense of the participants and you and I as all of the "deep pockets" people will be included in the inevitable law suit to be filed that will include the Maloofs for not providing adequate traffic control which will increase their liability insurance and force them to increase parking/ticket prices........ad nausem.......all because grown men couldn't behave as such. I mean, if they want to fight so bad give them a weapon and a ticket to Baghdad.

Now you're catastrophising.

I may be allowing pessimism to creep into it but I'm not advocating anything, just commenting on a situation that's bleak but may quickly become bleaker still. You must admit that from a realistic viewpoint much of what I said is not only possible but likely. But it does present the DA, and we as a community, with a unique question; when does self-defense become offensive? If the perps individually or jointly beat the vic senseless causing death then, by all means, charge them. But if the perps had just as much chance of being the vic by falling and hitting their head against the pavement then didn't they take an equal chance? Shall they be punished for having survived? Is the knowledge that their immaturity resulted in the death of another human being sufficient punishment? Pretty deep questions.

Very, very true - just look at the Scott Peterson trial. It ended up costing in excess of $4 million - all because the media took the case and ran with it from the very beginning. Who got rich? Well, let's just say a lot of advertising was sold on the various cable TV shows that pretty much went All-Peterson-All-The-Time AND a LOT of newspapers and magazines were sold.

I'm glad to hear the family got an attorney. No one is questioning how stupid it was for all parties to get out of their cars. However, when you have 2 big guys against one smaller guy, it's really hard to believe that their lives were in danger. The 2 guys that killed Mark were the ones that started the yelling and gesturing. They were the ones that followed Mark and parked behind him. They were the ones that killed him. They need to be held accountable for what they did. It's not enough that they feel bad and have to live with this. They get to live and their children still have their fathers. This is not about money. This is about justice. Please remember that your comments are being read by people that knew Mark and cared about Mark and are grieving.

Why did he park if he didn't want to fight them?

This is a sports message board devoted to the Sacramento Kings.

I'm sure we all send our prayers to the Liedheisl family in their time of grief.

On the other hand, NONE of us know all the details of what happened. That is for the district attorney and conceivably a court and jury to decide. There ARE two sides to every story.

I'm closing the thread.
