Maloofs to star in reality show on Spike TV

[font=Times New Roman,Times,Serif]The owners of the Sacramento Kings announced Wednesday they will star in a one-hour weekly reality television show in which they dispense advice to struggling family businesses.

The show is the inaugural project for Maloof TV and will air next year on Spike TV, a cable network that caters to a male audience.

In the series, the Maloof brothers will use their business acumen to help transform struggling family businesses into flourishing enterprises, according to a news release.

Representatives of the featured businesses will be invited to various Maloof holdings for an inside look at how the businesses are run. The Maloofs, along with a team of business experts, will work with each business to develop a turnaround plan.

The show is a collaboration between Maloof TV and MGM Television. "This is the first of what I obviously hope will be many collaborations with the Maloofs," said Hank Cohen, president of MGM Television Entertainment, in a prepared statement. "This show will benefit from the full spectrum of Maloof holdings in sports, entertainment and hospitality as well as those of MGM. With personalities as colorful as any you'll see on television, they will no doubt bring a terrific chemistry to this 'family' show."

The series will be co-produced by the Maloofs and the production company Reveille, which is a joint venture between producer Ben Silverman and NBC Universal Television Studio. Reveille has produced a number of other reality shows, including "The Restaurant," "The Office" and "The Biggest Loser."

"The Maloofs epitomize the American dream," Silverman said in a prepared statement. "They are incredibly successful entrepreneurs who live life to the fullest and get to spend time together as a family. The entire audience will want to join in and watch the Maloofs lend their expertise and unique philosophy to other American families."

Maloof TV, a division of Maloof Productions, is an entertainment development and production company founded in April 2004, and is based in Santa Monica. It is led by the Maloof family, whose diversified business portfolio spans banking, real estate, hospitality, beer distribution, gaming and sports -- from ownership of the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to the Sacramento Kings basketball team.

Ouch! First Trump, Then Cuban, Branif, and now Maloof's. If tthree on a match is bad luck these guys are really in for a long haul.

No joke, add Martha Stewart to that list. She's made a deal with NBC/Universal for her own show as well.

I hope the Maloofs are lucky enough to get a good time slot. I hate to say, I watched a few episodes of Cuban's terrible show, but that's because it wasn't up against anything watchable, and Mon Nite Footy led into the show. I just hope this doesn't become an ego-driven project like The Benefactor was. God that show was awful.
