Malone Fired

I don't want to hear anybody complaining about players lacking loyalty, ever again. "Just get a haul" for the 3x MVP who led your franchise to it's only championship ever. That dude should be allowed to stay in Denver until he wants to leave, to hell with the future.
I think the assumption at least partially is that the team is hopeless and will never win again and therefore Jokic would want to move on as well.

Of course that only applies to "championship or bust" mentality and I do not know who is to blame for that.

They’d run it through him first nobody would trade Jokic level player without a trade demand unless the nba forces you too like the Luka trade

Ownership will gladly keep him and run the course

Why would that be the assumption?
I don't know... because some players demand trades when the teams are bad? Because some fans have transferred championship or bust onto the players even if many are content to compete and earn a check and have some loyalty?

I'm in the camp that just wants to root for my team, consistently make the playoffs, and maybe get hot one year. I seem to be in a pretty clear minority even among the more sensible fans on this board vs. twitter and reddit who think we should do a Philly process despite the fact only one team (OKC) has come anywhere near successful with this style, but had to move from Seattle in the process. Granted they are a top seed in the NBA right now and an easy pick to at least make the WCF but I remain unconvinced there won't be some ref magic to aid a bigger market.

Off season is set to be wild. Durant trade? Ja trade? What about Zion? It seemed like it could be quiet on the coach front because a lot of teams have young coaches or tenured level coaches but nope. Who else will get fired? Bud? Nurse? “It’s a complete crap” guy? What about Thibs?

BOoth should have been fired the moment he signed the likes of Nnaji and Saric to NBA contracts. Barring god tier play from Murray/Jokic Denver was not a contender this year way to flawed and not deep enough team and MPJ is one of the worst most limited 3rd options in the NBA. They don't use Gordon enough imo he should be touching the ball way more.

I’m pro Mike Malone. I didn’t blame him for remaining bitter about the Kings but this should show him that even the “good organizations” are every bit as cutthroat and impulsive when a bad month opens up the need for a fall guy.

however low his exit from the Kings was, getting run from a team you gave a decade and a championship to one week out from the playoffs is LOW

Denver’s problem is that they lost some key guys(KCP), Gordon has taken a noticeable step back from their championship season; and Murray is just way too streaky for a number 2 option. It could be fine in a postseason when he gets hot but it’s also buried them in other postseasons.

They we seem to be back to the level of their Paul Milsap, Jerami Grant, Gary Harris era. Which is good but no championship level.

For the more immediate future, it makes me wonder what type of game we see from the Nuggets tomorrow night against the Kings.

Hopefully the "fired coach bounce" starts AFTER that game to end the season and heading into the playoffs.

Fresh? The league changed pretty heavily right after that win. Different day, and a much tougher road.

Malone should never have been the guy fired by the Kings back in the day but this might very well be another instance of just simply wearing out your welcome. There's been blurbs about Malones prickly personality and unwillingness to shift from his position. Same thing ended up biting former Kings coach George Karl. Not sure about Booth but this is definitely an interesting era where teams seem to be experimenting with manufacturing energy via a coach firing while heading into the playoffs. Coaches have always been kind of iffy in terms of actual impact and it's always been noted that talent gets you there, not necessarily coaches. This is starting to look like with the cap kind of pseudo hardening with these new limitations coaches will now become the fodder for change.

I don’t watch anything espn related but with everything you just laid out surely they well have a lot of topics at hand and not run lebron propaganda all summer

Yeah, Booth had a moment there where he was saying things that were basically insane for a GM. He was way too honest and ended up looking kind of like an oddball.

no chance he comes back to work for this franchise with vivek still the owner.

What'd they do, withhold his last paycheck? Look, the Kings made a clear mistake, Malone set fire to whatever was left. Good luck in your future endeavors Mr. Malone.

Also maxed out an injury prone Murray who was coming off two meh seasons and one of the worst Olympic runs in history. No reason to max murray out just let him play this year and prove he’s a max player

Not Matt George making up another imaginary narrative in his head for some reason again

Matt George would be better off heeding his own advice by taking a deep breath. He's just a glorified fan after all. He's in no position to lecture anybody about how they should feel about Michael Malone.

I think karma won again. The dude has behaved like an entitled child for the past decade. The only question is, will he behave in the same petulant manner toward the Nuggets org as he has toward the KINGS org?

At least be consistent, dude.

LOL
