Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

The Kings need guys like LRM to show the way on defense. His offense is adequate and better than many people believe.. He plays hard and under control. I like the guy a lot.

As for pure defense and versatility Luc is better than Artest. Artest was a legit 2-way player though so he would always look better because not only could he get a steal he could take the ball back and finish or make a play on the other end in a single sequence. Luc did a decent job on Gasol when guarding him the other night. What player can guard a Goran Dragic or Gerald Green all the way to Marc Gasol? Luc, and that's it right now.

Malone put him on Lamarcus Aldridge, as well. So with the guys you mentioned, in his limited time..he's already gaurded every position out there. He could very well be the most versatile defensive specialist in the NBA.

Again though, he doesn't hurt us on offense. Stays within the offense, sets good picks, and actually has a good looking shooting stroke

Not only does he not hurt the offense he makes it way better, his off the ball movement and timing on his cuts is great, he's a very solid mid range jump shooter when open and he does not need the ball to score. He finishes strong and can go through contact but end of the day he does so many little things which you have to love, dude is this years Tony Douglas for me just love the toughness and simple effective high IQ game.

I have a feeling we're going to start seeing #33 Kings jersey proudly sported by a lot of fans pretty soon. I know I want one. Plus, it was my b-ball high school jersey # when I played back in the day.

I may yet be proven wrong that he is damaged goods. But me thinks more than 2 games are required before he's declared the best anything in kings history.

Disagree one hundred percent. I am more than prepared to declare Luc Mbah a Moute the best player from Cameroon in Kings history. And he's already #10 with a bullet on the ten greatest players in Kings history to wear the number 33.

Ok, you've got me on the Cameroon thing.

Luc looks pretty darn good. Knows how to play defense and has great length. It turns out length seems to bother ALL basketball players, who knew???:D:D:D

I like Moute. Always good to have a guy like that in your rotation. He can defend 1 to 4 which is a big plus. Unselfish, good IQ, team player.

No complaints.

Wow, I finally came into this thread...and almost choked before I got past the first post. :p

Let's just leave it at he's obviously the best we have on the team right now, and that tonight we finally got to see some of what we acquired him for. Obviously a much more stable, and hence playable, option than the similar James Johnson attempt the year before.

All time Kings list BTW would probably be:

C- Dalembert?
PF- Clark? Pollard? Grant?
SF- Ron Artest
SG- Doug Christie
PG-Randy Brown

Thanks for someone finally mentioning Randy Brown. He was a stud defensively.

He's got a ways to go before he catches up with the illustrious career of Mikki Moore

I really like Mbah a Moute's defensive intensity: I'm worried about what might happen to his role in the rotation if we actually do get one of those vaunted freshmen.

That's the beauty of Luc. You can have him guard 1 of 4 positions so I think he'll be fine.

Luc has been a pleasant surprise to me thus far. I knew about his defense on 2s, 3s and 4s, but last night he made Chris Paul work for his money and I think coach Malone will use Luc more often versus 1s. Another part of his game that really caught me by surprise is his movement off the ball, we knew he wasn't an offensive force coming in, but he has made some big baskets by cutting to the rim when Cousins gets doubled. If he could give us somewhere around 10 points, 5/6 rebounds, 3 assists and top tier defense night in and night out, I actually don't see a reason why he couldn't be our starting SF for the coming years, if his knees hold up. His only two points of weakness are his shooting and his health, but I believe he's an adequate enough of a shooter to stretch the floor for Cousins. What do you guys think?

I'm not sure why that's sad. Moute defends point gaurds better than many of the top point guards

I agree. I don't think this needs to be a huge discussion but as pgs are paid usually for their offensive skills no matter what they are, this isn't all so sad. Name one starting pg who got that position because of his defense.

He's a very valuable chess piece going forward, because he can take the opponents best player out of their comfort zone. That's actually more valuable than an extra 15 points in some cases.

A brilliant pickup by us and I believe Coach Malone is responsible for getting him. He knew exactly what his skillset was and how valuable Moute could be in his system and style..and how it would rub off on other players

I think the other thing about Moute is that he's clearly a vet that knows how to play the game....when to rotate, when to cut, where to cut, etc. I think it's huge to have a guy like that who can help our younger players and vets like JT, who quite frankly need that type off guy around them......probably another reason Landry was brought in

And he's talking to the younger guys during games and they seem to listen to him. Looks like a great teammate. And, he's a prince, there aren't many teams with a prince on their roster :p
