LSU is National Champion!!!

Mad props to my LSU Tigers for dismantling Ohio State in the BCS Championship game of college football.

Geaux Tigers!!!

O-VER-RATED :clap: :clap: :clap::clap::clap:

Granted...I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE Ohio State.....

But MAN, Geaux Tigers indeed!!! Congratulations LSU!!! Way to represent!!!

Huh...and here I thought you were programmed to automatically flock to any team donning the purple and gold...again, my universe is now askew...

;).

I hate the Ohio State so thanks for knocking them off and winning the BCS Championship. I refuse to acknowledge any team as National Champion this year though, the BCS was a bigger mess than ever.

Every other division in football can have a playoff, why can't they figure out a way to make a playoff system work in conjunction with a bowl system already?

'Cuz it's all about the $$$$!

Well yeah I know that, and I actually like the silly bowls. But there has to be a way to do both. Either do the playoffs and then play the bowls as normal, or have all the bowls and then put the top 4 teams into a playoff. I mean, c'mon.

What a farce.

You want to talk about great college football? I say we talk about how the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater upset the mighty Purple Raiders of Mount Union. Now that was some awesome college football!

I saw that on the Ocho! It was right after fly fishing and the labrador retriever trials at 3am last Tuesday morning.

:)

There has been talk of doing that. The four major bowls have the top eight teams play each other, then two more weeks of football for semifinals and finals.

I'd be happy if they just expanded the BCS from matching the top 2 to matching the top 4 teams and having the winners play a week later. I honestly don't know what the problem would be with that. I guess there would be a small possibility that the Rose Bowl would lose money since it traditionally pits Big Ten versus Pac 10 and they'd lose that matchup most of the time. But I would assume the money from hosting the championship game or even semi-finals would be enough to offset it.

I truly don't understand why that wouldn't work.

I cannot believe how quickly threads can be derailed nowadays.

;)

Props to LSU.

I don't believe you for a minute VF, but I was actually surprised it took until the final day of the college season for a BCS thread to spring up. I had thought about starting one when the matchups were announced. Its just so infuriating, if the BCS ran the NFL we'd have the Patriots playing the Seahawks in the Candy Cane bowl, Dallas vs. San Diego in the Long Distance Shootout Bowl Classic presented by AT&T while the Colts battled the Packers for all the marbles in the Cheetos Super Bowl Championship.

But props again to LSU, can we please have a two year moratorium on the Ohio State and Oklahoma in BCS games now?

That sounds good to me, but it makes too much sense for the powers that be.

Sorry about that. I probably should have started new thread about the UW-Whitewater upset of the mighty Purple Raiders. I am sure that it would have been a very popular thread. ;)

You know, I was waiting for the UW-WW thread since I saw that game....;)

There is a way to do both the gobs of silly bowls (which I definitely agree, I LOVE them, some of them are better than the major non BCS and BCS bowls) and the BCS. I haven't read it yet, I've just heard some of the rumblings that they've started talking about it - about a "Final Four" If I could have seen USC, Georgia and whatever other two teams they figured should have had their shot not named OSU, I'd listen to it. I mean seriously, you mean to tell me that wouldn't milk more money out of advertisers and sponsors to make the ESPN/Fox, bookmakers, the conferences and the NCAA happy beyond their wildest dreams AND bring more joy to fans everywhere since it would likely mean another week of high stakes bowls?

Whatever it would have taken to get me a USC/Georgia matchup this year just for kicks - since as red hot teams they surely would have met in whatever playoff scenario the NCAA came up with, I'm for it. Even more than I'm for any national bowl that allows me to see OSU and Notre Dame smacked down HARD and AUTHORITATIVELY.

PDX AMEN!!!! DEAR BCS....STOP TRYING TO SELL ME ON OKLAHOMA AND OHIO STATE...PLEASE!!!

A healthy LSU team, which they were not all season long by a long long shot, showed what they could do when healthy in the title game. The Tigers would easily handle either Georgia, who couldn't even win their own division in the #1 conference in the land, or one-peat USC, who played in the much overrated Pac 10.

But it doesn't matter now, the debate can rage on, since the only place with two crystal footballs is Baton Rouge and that will not change.

Well, I think down in LA the folks @ USC are feeling the same way, they got healthy at the end of the season too. I'm not dissin' LSU, especially since they kicked overrated OSU's butt. However, I still would have liked to have seen Georgia and USC play as the two hottest teams in the country. LSU could have played OSU and met the winner. The BCS' system has flaws.

How would you LSU fans describe Early Doucet's game, I kinda want the 9ers to draft him with their 1st round pick but I haven't seen enough to get a good idea whether he'd fit Martz' offense or not.
