Here's why, all four teams are in an identity crisis/funk and this trade gives them all a bit of what they want.
Sacramento gets rid of Artest and Bibby for a good mix of youth, toughness, and defense. One might think were trading a great lockdown wing man and a 20 points per night PG for a 6-9 center who can't shoot to save his life, an over achieving hustle player, an unproven gimp PG, and a couple of journey men scrubs.
But, we trade the perennial runner up defensive player of the year for a legitamate shot blocker/rebound feind who makes a living off of dunks and second chance points.(How many outside jumpers has Moore hit this season anyways, there all dunks!) We also get David Lee(only 24 y.o.) who becomes an instant fan favorite because of his hustle, oh and not to mention this guy has skills.
Now the gamble. Shaun Livingston is the deal breaker beause we don't know how he's gonna rebound from the injury, but he could be our PG of the future. Imagine the Starting line up 3 years from now when they're all in their prime.
Livingston
Martin
Garcia
Lee
Hawes(still pretty young)
Chicago gives up on T Thomas a little ealy, but in return they get the future back up all-star center in Kaman and Stephon still has some skills left. With Kaman in the middle playing like he is they make a legit push @ a show down with Boston in the East finals. Kaman right now is playing like a mix between Gasol and B Wallace. All-star in the East ... Easy
Hinrich
Gordon
Deng
J Smith
Kaman
LA. Clippers are doing this because Maggette has said he is gonna opt out @ season's end and Kaman is playing out of his mind. Yes, they give up some nice pieces, but they get may get the best end of any one in the deal.
You may ask yourself why would they take Curry after the New York super suck duo in Randolf/Curry. Because unlike Randolf, Brand plays D and he plays it well.
Bibby
Mobley
Tyus or Tim (you pick) Thomas
Brand
E Curry
Last but not least New York, one thing Isiah can do to get heat off his back is to bring in a hometown hero like Artest. In doing so he can dump Curry and the lackluster aura he brings. Bring in a couple of exciting wings like Maggette and Artest, may not take them anywhere but it could be a nice distraction for awhile and they may @ least fun to watch.
Crawford
Maggette
Artest
Randolf
Moore
Yes there are some flaws, but under cap it works and in a way I think it works for all the teams as far as personel. Also some picks would have to be swaped to make it stick.
