ROFLMAO!
Even on a free throw, his right foot is too far forward...
/poking fun
At least, I hope he's showing him how NOT to do it.....
your feet are supposed to be offset on a free throw... shoulders square. sorry if i missed sarcasm.
Yes, one of the reasons he hasn't developed a consistent shot as of yet is his insane ability to get to the basket... but another thing, and this is a legit reason I believe, is his arms are just so damn long. Makes for a larger mechanical motion where more can go wrong. I remember when I was a kid (10-12), I could absolutely shoot the lights out from anywhere within 18 feet. I once hit 32 in a row from 16 feet on the baseline. Maybe it was because my arms had a fairly compact motion. Either that or I was the basketball baby Jesus.
I can name a couple pretty good shooters who also have extremely long hands:
Kevin Durant
Russell Westbrook
LaMarcus Aldridge can shoot 18 footers consistently
Paul George
Rudy Gay

I think this really is the largest reason.
Same reason Shaq never developed a faceup jumper. Why would he ever have to?
But now I'm hoping that maybe Reke can manufacture some desperation this summer of a career turning point nature. Is he going to be Iggy or Pierce? Hell, wouldn't even mind it if it were of a contract push nature. Just whatever motivation it takes to push "get a jumper" from the list of wants to the list of 'gotta dos".
It's kind of hard for me to understand players who can't shoot. I mean I get it, not everyone is going to be a Peja/Ray Allen/Stever Kerr type. But shooting is really one of the easiest skills to master. And frankly, I've never really bought into the whole good form thing. You just have to 1) have a decently high release point to not get it blocked all the time and 2) just shoot over and over and over and over. It's so damn simple. You just shoot like 2500 times a day. Just go to the gym and shoot hoops for like 4-6 hours a day for like 2-3 months. You want a shooting coach? There, I just coached your shooting. I mean you don't even have to go that hard. You could, at some point, in order to practice tired. But that's not the main point. The point is just keep shooting until you can hit threes with a blindfold. It's not tactically challenging. Just keep shooting. Am I missing anything here???
I always loved to break into my h.s. gym, grab a couple good balls, and hit shot after shot.
I agree with you. This is basically what I do and what I've done in the past to improve my shooting. Keep practicing, if I was an NBA player with this problem, I would spend the entire summer working 8 hrs a day on my jump shot.
I believe that at this level a shooting coach might be helpful to correct your mistakes. If you keep shooting but you always make the same mistakes, you need someone to show you how to correct what you are doing wrong. But again, not everybody can be Allan Houston o Ray Allen. You can be a great shooter even if your style of shooting is not perfect. Look at Reggie Miller. He had a strange mechanic, but it worked.

Who is the shooting coach? Do we have his credentials? Do we know he is outstanding?
Also, I was taught to have the left foot forward, right foot back, for a free throw. Was that wrong?
Mass said:I'm sure he is working on it. I can see it at the beginning of the games, when he is not tired and he thinks about what he is doing. In those cases, you can see a good structure of his jumper, he doesn't lean back too much, and usually he hits those shots with a good %. But then, when the games go on and he gets tired, he seems to forget how to shoot. He keeps leaning back, and he can't hit his shots. Why? Because shooting without leaning back is not natural for him right now. It's not automatic, so when he doesn't think about it, he goes back to his style of shooting.

I'm sure IfAt1st was completely serious in that post since he hasn't responded since.
Why did he spend all that money on a coach when this is available for free on youtube?
