LIVE VIDEO: Mayor Johnson Press Update on NBA Meetings from Thurs and Fri

http://www.news10.net/video/liveonline/default.aspx

LA Times is also reporting that NBA will advise Kings to stay in Sacramento. Will find link after conference is over. But hnnnnnnggg...

Overnight and this morning, at least two more large corporate commitments were pledged to the Kings on top of the $9.2 million figure given to the relocation committee yesterday. By the time they return on Monday to verify the $9.2 mil, that figure will be well over $10 million.

Arena location focus is "downtown. Always downtown."

The comments below the feed are distractingly hilarious

RE Graswich trying to pick up a girl on camera after the conference has just ended like the sleazeball he is

KJ is a master. He can influence the NBA and its fans in one sentence. His message seems to be that the team now has a lot of work to do to get the arena plans set. He doesn't spend a lot of time rejoicing over past achievements and keeps people looking down the raod. The road is still long so nobody can sit back and relax. He ... is ... impressive. He is organized and has the tasks compartmentalized to keep himself and everybody focused on the next task to accomplish.

I wish the Maloofs were this organized but KJ is a special person.

BTW, the corporate amount just went over $10 mil.

"Always Downtown, Downtown".. Quote from KJ when asked about where the arena would be.

Pretty sure this whole debacle could have been avoided had we just skipped Fargo and gone straight to KJ

Was that Jimmie Yee? I remember that he wasn't really a basketball fan but became converted and cast some deciding vote in 1997. Now he's front and center speaking with KJ. People can change. Give Cohn a chance - hate to break the mood. :) I shared several emails with Cohn and he is the only council member to engage me. He wants the Kings here. The past is the past.

People in Sacramento need to contact their particular council members just for support. I think they get the idea but the one guy said he is getting emails at a 100-1 clip supporting the stay of the Kings. It makes a difference what we think. It does no good not to communicate it to the people who can make things happen. People from outside the city proper can write. It is no excuse to sit back and say, well, I don't even live in the country. Sometimes volume of email is all that a politician sees.

"Kings - yes" and hit send.

Certainly an email to Clay Bennett would be appropriate. Let him see up close and personal what the local politicians are seeing.

We have learrned that the City Council can make this happen without a public vote so ride them with praise. It's all very interesting and I'd hate to be an anti-Kings politician in this particular moment in time. The issue is shifting from the Kings to the success of the area and THAT'S THE POINT!!!

And did I say KJ was great? I wish my mind was that organized and I could make the words come out in the same fashion. He can carry Team Sacramento in this game.

BTW, I STILL think people should write to the NBA BOG. I am a believer that they can be influenced.

I am impressed with KJ, even when I don't agree with him. He goes to work out at like 5 AM and then just goes and goes and goes with a crazy schedule.

He does have the leadership skills we need. Obviously he can win friends and influence people. The quality of power people he has rallied to this cause is amazing. He is always optimistic and never really gives up. You have to believe if you want to convince other people to stand with you.

Good job, Mr. Mayor.

Even if they came back and said it was way cheaper next to the current arena it wouldnt happen. The feds arent allowing any building permits until the levee's are repaired.

Yes, but downtown (especially the rail yards) is every bit as threatened as Natomas. Six of one and half a dozen of the other. Estimates for downtown are 20 feet of water is a levee broke.

Your missing the point. You can't get a permit to build anything in natomas right now.

ERRRR mis-read the quote.. Yah downtown is where it's at. Does it really matter though? Natomas or Downtown, WE HAVE THE KINGS!! Let's keep them! :)

KJ has picked up an extra 10 mill for the Maloofs business. And they're still talking about possible relocation, even against the NBA's wishes. Jeez.
