Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
Hello folks,

I'm ready to get started if you are. It was an interesting night at the Kings premises. Lots to talk about ....

Do you think the Kings will go after a vet pg like Blake, Duhon or Felton? Friday June 25, 2010 11:58 Guest

Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
Interesting question about the Kings point guard situation. My understanding is that they will look to fill that role with an undrafted rookie or someone who doesn't make a roster. I know they like Jerome Randle a little bit. They're looking for a change of pace player, who can shoot. Friday June 25, 2010 11:59 Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee

I've seen reports that Detroit is interested in Cousins. Any signs that the Kings FO is actually considering any kind of trade that would involve Cousins? Friday June 25, 2010 11:59 Chris

Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
Yes, the Pistons definitely had interest. They were one of the teams trying to move up to draft Cousins. But Geoff Petrie was insistent after the draft. The Kings did not draft Cousins to trade him.

will Brockness return to the Kings? Friday June 25, 2010 12:01 Derek

Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
I spoke with Jon Brockman for a few minutes before the draft. The Kings made a qualifying offer, which I suspect he will take. With the roster moves, though, his role figures to be further diminished.

Nice to see Ryan Thompson get a Summer League invite, do you think he makes the team? Friday June 25, 2010 12:02 Derek

12:04
Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
People think Ryan Thompson can play, but I would be very surprised if he made the team. This looks like more of a courtesy invitation more than anything. You never know, though. There are always surprises. Anthony Morrow was terrific at the Las Vegas Summer League. His outside shooting generated a lot of conversation.

Have read Landry starting at 3. What does that mean for Casspi? Friday June 25, 2010 12:04 Phil
12:07
Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
The question about Landry as a small forward? He might get some minutes there, but I don't see him as a starting three. Ideally, he's more of an off-the-bench player who comes in and stirs things up. The three spot is an open competition among Francisco Garcia, Donte Greene and Omri Casspi. The Kings are eager to see if Casspi improved his left hand. They still believe he has a large upside and are hoping he claims the position. Friday June 25, 2010 12:07 Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee

Any chance the kings are really involved in that Kirk Hinrich trade as reports are showing? Friday June 25, 2010 12:07 Thatguy916

Not sure about that. I know the Kings like Hinrich, but they don't like his money. Friday June 25, 2010 12:08 Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee

How sweet was the Maloof's draft-day party? Friday June 25, 2010 12:08 Vince

Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
The draft day party was pretty crazy. I haven't seen that type of enthusiasm around a Kings draft in long time, maybe even as long as I've been in Sac. I am a little surprised at how popular the Cousins pick is. He seems to intrigue people. I'm really eager to see how he fares in Summer League ... and what his body looks like after working out with Kings trainers and conditioning coaches for a few weeks

Two years to make playoffs is that fair optimism? Friday June 25, 2010 12:10 Charles

12:11
Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee:
Hello Charles. Two years? Maybe. But the Kings still need to add perimeter shooting and a quick, uptempo point guard. Friday June 25, 2010 12:11 Ailene Voisin, Sac Bee
