lets not get ahead of ourselves

I have to remind you that bibby is up for an extention in the summer. Ron is going to do what he does. And hopefully that involves a sign and trade with a certain hawks player i wont mention because i dont want to jinks it. And established stars aren't attracted to Sacramento, for reasons i feel everyone already understand. I should also remind myself that the kings are handcuffed by salary issues. All in all, it wasn't a waste of a season. The stocks have risen for Garcia, Beno, Martin, even Douby improved, and Hawes doesn't look that bad. Its a small step foward, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Don't forget Justin Williams. Anyone who didn't enjoy watching him snag board after board last night doesn't have a pulse.

;)

So what do you want them to do? Take Shareef out and shoot him like a plow horse with a broken leg?

Warning to other GMs? That's just absurd.

EVERY team suffers through players with injuries. Health liabilities? Stepping on the court itself is a liability. EVERY single player in the league is one bad step away from an ankle injury or worse. SAR is NOT part of our current problems on the court. He is, in fact, just the opposite. He's instilling a sense of team to the guys who don't get many minutes by always being there when there is NO requirement for him to do so. We paid Brent Price for an entire year while he sat home with a bad back and never came within 20 miles of a game.

Players have various traits that are valuable to a team even if they never step onto the court. SAR is one of them. Regardless of his physical condition right now, he's a good mentor to some of the kids and a valuable example of what a good teammate should be.

so why dont we double his salary next year and make him the official mascot.
s.a.r. is not useful to this team. now there's nothing you can do about a teammate thats healthy and gets injured during the season, but there is something you can do about bringing in someone with a history of health problems. just avoid.

good character doesnt replace what this team needs.

Well, sure, but you're overlooking one little detail. "Just avoid" works for the future, but not for the past.

we shouldnt of signed him in the first place. and then we go and sign mikki moore. we are building a reputation for signing crap players. where's Master P

Yeah, i know and agree with everything you said. kings are making progress, with Coach T, and Garcia, Beno, Martin, even Douby improved, and Hawes, brad and john.

not so much with Kenny, Bibby and artest.

I maybe the only one but.....I think bibby is kinda garbage now... he isnt the shooter he used to be, and I think it vlade and webber in their prime were here now, bibby still wouldnt be like the bibby of 2000. i really think he has lost a few steps.

Bibby is not. Artest is not. Kenny is not. Brad next, im sick from hearing he or 93 or k9 is a lost cause. They are gone when they want to be, just so happens the next one up is Artest; and upredictable as the media portrays him, his stock is somewhat steady. Bibby and garbage surely attacks his large contract. Cheese, hes bread and butter, and a superior player. Didn't he win fist to cuffs in college? Bibby plays!

first let me say i like bibby from what i know of him. and him killing the lakers.

But yes its nice to see him getting some dimes........but what else.....chuck the threes? his so called leadership? where is the bibby dance??

to me he seems to be going through the motions, collecting a check. he doesnt even look like he is having fun anymore. sure he kept hearing his name in the media, but thats the nba.

We'll agree to disagree, cause I don't think we see eye to eye how "teams" are put together, or more importantly, how they stay together. Good character keeps this team from killing each other in the locker room. Good character helps you build and learn from losses. Does that mean I would prefer a gimpy old man to a rubber-band young kid? Not really, but they each have their place in the NBA. On a team looking to go young, it's really nice to have positive leadership from vets.
I mean, really. SAR played for the Grizzlies. If anyone knows how to lose with class, it's him. :D

if history is any guidance, i'm not going to hold my breath for that. :(
Exactly, im not even thinking about it anymore. Im VERY sure that petrie is trying even though i dont know for a fact of course, but i just know deep down that nothing will happen because im just going off of what i have seen for almost three years.

we will continue to gift wrap games to crappier teams because that's what we really do best. As long as we have artest.

Last 5 games

K.Martin: 33 mpg, FG: 25/73 (34%), 17.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, 0.8 spg, 2.2 topg

M.Bibby: 30 mpg, FG: 29/68 (42%), 14.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.8 apg, 1.2 spg, 2.0 topg

R.Artest: 39 mpg, FG: 42/91 (46%), 22.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.6 spg, 3.4 topg

portland got a squad. they got players that can ball. behavior problems or not

That's the key word. They got rid of their behavior problems by cleaning house and starting from scratch. Look where they are now.

I've been ubercritical of Shareef, but I want to give him credit right now for being a true teammate. I've noticed him numerous times on the sidelines, cheering loudly and encouraging the kids on the team. He's there every night and he doesn't just sit there and pout, but is an active participant in huddles and discussions. Whether he ever plays again or not, SAR at least brings a good attitude and outlook to the team.

I haven't been critical of Shareef, just the man who brought him here...
