well thats cuz at least 3 of those guys have track records of saying and doing really really stupid things. lebron's still awaiting his first major off-court criticism (other than the hummer and jersey thing), and seems to be a nice guy, upstanding, and mature, especially for his age.

wait a second...haven't any of you heard of Lebron's child that he had when he was 19...he tried to keep it a secret as well...it certainly isn't a big scandal or eve something that is bad at all - but its not like hes the perfect role model either

Lebron wanting this money may just indicate that we just have to wait a little longer for the next "truly great" player in the NBA. As someone mentioned above, Jordan didn't look for extra money when he was winning dunk contests...
Truly great?

Jordan whored himself out to more companies than any other player ever has. He also had a gambling problem and "defected" from the league player's association so that other players couldn't profit from any of his merchandise.

Yeah, LeBron's the devil.

how do peoples lives and the decisions they make take away from being a truly great player? people need to leave their personal life out of the equation.

Jordan didn't demand $1 million to appear in the dunk contest.

Why smear Jordan in an attempt to justify what LeBron may or may not have done?

The idea of asking/demanding money to appear as part of the All-Star festivities, is obscene IMHO. It should be a honor. If LeBron doesn't understand that, then he doesn't need to be there. It has nothing to do with what Jordan did or didn't do...

4cwebb tried to make the argument that LeBron couldn't be truly great like Jordan was if he was asking for money to appear. JSin's point, and mine earlier, was that Jordan did the same type of thing all the time. If you are going to compare them, you should be seeing similarities, not differences.

Actually most of the media brought out the matter of him being a father(which is nothing surprising or shocking)
