Last Night's Broadcast--The real Grant

Remember that one Houston Rocket Broadcaster a while back.. ARGH. forgetting his name... Dangit.. He is on my list of worst ever but I cannot remember the guys name... DOH! He was much much worse than Grant imo heh.

I know he was a former player, and it's not Drexlet or Bullard... ERGH.. Someone has to remember who I am talking about.

Calvin Murphy? The little con man who fathered 14 children from 9 different women and who was recently acquitted on child molestation charges.

Off topic ... but I don't see how you think the NO people are amongst the best slim. That's just my opinion, I don't find them good at all. From my experiences watching them they spend more time talking bad about the other teams players than actually commentating.

Frankly, I enjoy Grant (more than 50% of the time), because he keeps his radio show on point. He talks sports. Now, do I have to apologize or feel like I'm in a lower class when it comes to following sports because of this? Uh, no. To each his/her own. Taste does have a lot to do with it... IMHO.

P.S. I don't mind him on television either. Still no apology here...

His radio show is boring as hell, but if you talk Kings and run their games in this city you get ratings. Ask 1530. They had little sports care, but what they had did well in ratings. Grant's rating shot up once 1140 got the Kings, and then again when they became good. phone audience is horrible.

Actually there was no sports 1140 before Napear came to KHTK. 1140 was a longtime country station.

Grant came over in 1994 when the Kings moved to KHTK from KFBK. Grant, G-Man and NFL Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood moved to KHTK and created Sportsline. Youngblood left to Orlando and G-man had to drop something since he was the TV voice of the Kings at that time, The radio show, pit reporter for ABC/ESPN's coverage of the C.A.R.T series, and the voice of several race tracks in the area(His son Boby does the same as well). G-Man was exausted.

As I just said during the early to mid-90's The Kings brass decided to switch Grant and G-man for a few years.

As said before its about taste. But I will say if you ask his peers, Grant is much respected for both his show and his PBP. They think hes pretty good.

1) I love Gary Gerould
2) i think Napear is good as a game announcer (better than average)
3) I want to poke out my ears when i have to listen to Napear's show

(all of this caveated by the fact that I moved out of N. Cal. in 2003, aand haven't heard Napear's show since... and have only occasionally heard the broadcasts since...)

A whole lot more of that

I know that 1140 was a country station, but I'm pretty sure Grant's show and the switch to sports existed before the Kings came there.

No. Grant, G-man, and Youngblood came over after KHTK got the Kings contract. They had a 3 hour long show. I believe it was 4-7?

Call Grant and ask him... or G-man.
