Larry Brown!!

Entity

Hall of Famer
Larry is known for being the best rebuilding coach ever. We know he is a defensive coach and is taughted as a great teacher. He is the 4th all time winningest coach in NBA history and yet his named is never mentioned here. Why not Larry??

He is able to leave the 76ers. In fact he was asked back in January about coaching the Bobcats and he said that he and MJ were good friends and if MJ asked him it would be hard to say no.

I just posted this a minute ago in another thread:

As of earlier this year Larry Brown signed a contract to be Executive VP of the 76ers. Most people think he will replace GM King who he basically controls anyway or take over again as head coach with Philly. Therefore, Brown's not available or if he was it would probably cost anyone who took him away from the 76ers draft picks, $$$ or an act of GOD.

Once upon a time perhaps, if you did not mind knowing your coach was going to bail on you in three years max. But $10 mil a year money-grubbing unbelievably arrogant God/persecution complex old man Brown?

Nah.

As an aside, several things in play there goign variosu ways: 1) money oif course. he asks for lots of it. Not sure how getting away wiht stealing millions from the Knicks would effect his greed. 2) the Maloofs -- its the kind of splashy thing they would do under normal circumstances, but right now I think they've been cowed into folowing Geoff's lead by the Muss failure; 3) Brown and Petrie = bad news. Larry is an egomaniac and control freak, and he will immediately be at odds with anybody he can;t cow. You don't want to lose Geoff over a Brown rental; 4) Brown has said, that other than being a money-grubbing old fart who probably carries pictures of himself in his wallet ratehr than family members, that he does not want his final seaosn to have been a losing catastrophe in New York. he more or less bailed on the Grizzlies, who he was flirting with, as soon as they lost out on Oden. So gettign him to come here, to this uncertian mess, would be difficult. 5) Artest, hard to see Brown signign wiht a team with Ron on it after the brawl.

Who could do a great job with the knicks?

Comparatively?

Isiah Thomas.

You weren't here for that...it was an abomination. When I say it was the worst coaching job I have ever seen, at any level, it is not an exaggeration. If he wasn't trying to throw games, then he is flat out goign senile. It was disgusting. He took a bad team and completely destroyed any semblance of the word "team" in them. He not only should have had to pay his money back for that year, he shuold have had to pay a penalty for damage to the franchise.
