Landry likely to be traded/Casspi being talked about ( Marc Stein )

I like Landry for a late first. Seems like the best we can get for him, unless there's a legit guard or SF out there (Landry back to Houstin for Battier? hah).

As far as trading Casspi....Ehh, only if its really worth it. I'd rather see Greene go personally. I think if we go SF this draft (or FA) then we're definately shipping one of the two off. No reason to do so too early. Casspi has 17/6/2stls 1 blk potential if he figures it out. Greene has 20/3/2stls 1 blk potential but I dont think he'll ever figure it out.

I would hope that we could get at least a late lotto pick for Landry. But since it's the last year of his contract, and he's been playing poorly, who knows....

It would be rather disappointing if we essentially traded Kevin Martin to end up with junk, or nothing at all...

Wrong, imo. He has been in the league too long to be this frustrating and inefficient. And his lack of touch around the rim, plus defensive liabilities are huge problems that may never be resolved. I wouldn't be too shocked if we traded Landry/Thompson and grabbed a PF with our 1st rounder in the next draft. That position is not an area of strength for us at the moment. But I definately agree that we need to hang on to Casspi.

JT has been in the league for a little over two seasons. I would hardly say that's a very long time, especially for a big who had to learn his position on the fly because he made the transition from guard to PF in college. Not that I'm comparing the talent level, but how long did it take Dirk, Kobe, and Steve Nash to "get it"? Every player has a different timeline, and JT has actually shown a lot of improvement, especially this season. I don't know what's so frustrating you about him this year, especially when we have so many other players who are far more frustrating than him. He is one of our best defenders and rebounders, and he gives us garbage points which is what we need from him on offense. Since he started the process of learning the position so late, he still has a lot of upside, and I certainly wouldn't rule out him being our future PF, especially when we hope his frontcourt partner becomes a star.

Well put. I've hardly been able to watch the Kings this season, so I'm only basing off of the last 2 years plus looking at statistics this year. It's good to hear that he's been improving; I had assumed a lot from looking at statistics, and noticing his diminished playing time. It sounds like he can at least become solid off the bench in the future. I'm also suprised that you say he's become a good defender. Have his defensive instincts improved significantly?

Well, he manages to stay out of foul trouble, and doesn't get torched by opposing PFs, which is a lot more than you can say about most of the players on this team. He's no Kevin Garnett but he manages to stay with his man, provide some weakside help, and grab defensive rebounds (which is also a big part of defense). In any case, he is a HUGE defensive upgrade over Landry, which is why he is usually paired with Cousins as the defensive big, while Landry is paired with Dalembert.
