Kyle O'Quinn

This guy has been a favorite of mine to pair next to DeMarcus for a while now.

This guy can pretty much do it all. He's big, strong, heck of a rebounder, can pass, protects the paint, plays defense - and to cap it off he developed a 3pt shot into his arsenal offensively.

Granted he's 24 years old - but I think this kid is seriously underrated and someone we should absolutely target this summer as he becomes a free agent.

Been impressed with him every time he stepped on the floor as an NBA player, this guy can really impact the game.

What do you think it'll take to lure him away from Orlando in the summer? Or via trade?

I think he's a FA so you usually have to overpay to lure a RFA away from his team. I'd like him but then what to do we do with Landry and JT? We would have 3 guys making about the same amount.

That's definitely a problem - but I feel like we're more able to move one of them if we tried then in the summer, as they proved capable of contributing to a winning effort till Cuz went down.

The situation in Orlando is also a prime situation to pray him away : They've got Vucevic at near max money, Frye at 8 million per year - and Tobias Harris is due an extension in the summer, while they just drafted Aaron Gordon as their future PF.

It's a perfect storm in terms of minutes and cap, if we really went hard and tried to lure him away with a promise of a starting position.

A contract of 9 million per year would look like a bargain in a few years time, imo.

O'Quin is an interesting prospect. However, it all depends on how much Orlando values him. All they need to do is pick up his qualifying offer and he becomes a restricted freeagent. He's also a three year player for Orlando, which means they hold his Bird rights. Which means they can not only match any offer, they can offer more than anyone else. Now I doubt it will come to that with O'Quin. He's making chump change right now. Less than a mil a year. I sincerely doubt that anyone will offer 9 mil a year for his services. As much as you and I may like him and his potential, he's not nearly as proven a player as Landry is, and Landry is making 6.5 mil. Plus, unless we can clear some cap space, all we'll have to work with next offseason is around 7.7 mil in capspace. And thats without resigning any of Williams, Evans, or Casspi. We don't at the moment have a draft pick to worry about, but that could change by then.

Mostly it comes down to whether Orlando wants to keep him or not. If they do, then they can go over the cap to do so. He was a 2nd round pick, and they intentionally signed him to a three year contract. That was no accident. They knew that gave them his Bird rights. Same thing we did with McCallum.
