Komen Race For the Cure

As many of you know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in Dec. 2004. She has gone through surgery and treatment and, thankfully, her checkups have been A-OK!

I participated in the Komen Race last year in celebration of my mom and this year she is coming to Sacramento and joining me in the race. It will be extra special for me as it is held on Mother's Day weekend and this will be the first Mother's Day with my mom since I moved to Sacramento 10 years ago!

Here is a link to my personal page where people can pledge support for the Race. http://krftc.sackomen.org/site/TR?px=1163567&pg=personal&fr_id=1000 (That's the only pic. on my computer of me and my mom...sorry for the Laker gear.) :)

Thanks to my friends here at KF for your support and prayers for my mom while she was going through her treatment. I've told her all about this place and the caring people I've met here.

Thank you.

I have also registered for the race and have gotten a few pledges (thanks again VF).

I am happy to hear that your mom is doing well.

The race is a really good experience and I invite all of you to sign up for it if you can. It's a good cause, good exercise, and it's fun!

Done, hoopsie! And, once again, best wishes to your mom.

I'd like to give something to you both. Do you have a pledge page KMG23? PM me if you like. (My grandmother, mother and 2 aunts all had breast cancer in later years - survivors. :D Plus my best friend is a survivor, altho she lost two sisters.)

Thanks so much 6th...you too kennadog! It's amazing how many people this disease has touched...seems most everyone I know, in some way or another. Thankfully, with events like this, and gernerous donations from people like you, great strides are being made in the diagnoses and treatment of this disease.
Thanks again.

Done! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I have lost multiple family members to cancer. I hope you surpass your goal!

Woohoo! hoopsie, just before I signed on you were at 0% of your goal. In just a few short hours, you have reached 75% of your goal. I think it is time to have a loftier goal. :p Congrats! :)

Woohoo is right, 6th! I've only had this going for 1 day...so, taking your advice, I did up my goal. I have no doubt that I'll meet or exceed it....with the help of my many friends such as yourself!! :D

Thank you Lynne! I just saw a donation from Lynne...and I wasn't sure who that was. Thought it might be one of my wonderful friends at KF...and I was right. :)
Thanks again.

Appropriate? I think it's things like this that make Kingsfans.com so unique and wonderful.

I've added a bit to help you reach your goal.

You go, girl!!!

:D

I agree wholeheartedly!!
Your help and your friendship is very much appreciated.

Good thing you upped it again, hoopsie. That is where I'd have raised it to in the 1st place. And still at 85% already after upping the goal twice.

YOU GO, GIRL!!

You know you have my support, GO GIRL! It's a great cause. Too many people I love died from cancer, including both my parents. Awesome way to spend Mothers Day.

I believe that cancer is the number one killer of adults, is it not? There are just so many deadly health issues for women-cancer, heart problems (which now kill more women than men), etc. Yikes.

Well, I met my goal again, even after raising it twice already! (Thank you my friends:) ) What should I put it at now?? $1,000.00??

Hey guys! Sorry I have been MIA for a while- went on a trip back east for spring break. Anyway, Kennadog- I PM you with the info, I hope you got it and Prophetess, I will do that right now!

Thanks for all your support! After my lazy spring break, I have to start my running back up so I can be in shape for it. I plan on running it this year!
