Vosion's crapy lineup doesn't seem so crapy anymore. With all these changes still no time for Donte huh?

Guaranteed this comes back to bite Westphal in the @**. You think Omri and Beno will want to play for him anymore. He's going to lose this team quickly, if he hasn't already.

I would venture to say he is pretty close if not already based on the media reports lately. I'm semi-negative about Westphal but I feel myself being a lot more after this... Good grief the sky is falling.

The only thing I can think of is he thinks Head's defense is better then Beno's (which it is) and his 3 point shooting is supposed to be as well. However he's a terrible playmaker and ball handler and will no doubt be in that position tonight unless Tyreke dominates the ball which I hope he does. Tyreke at SG is utter failure - it seems our coach believes what the media thinks is Tyrekes natural position. Completely rediculous!

He has 77 mins to change his mind. If he doesn't, I will not make another excuse on his behalf.

The Kings are in a 5 game losing streak rut with lineup changes promised heading into tonights game. Ok, JT and Head in and Casspi and Beno out. The main thing is, if it works and Kings win tonight the move will be praised - if not expect more lineup changes. Because we don't know what's been happening behind the scenes and in practice I'm going to reserve ragging on the coach. Plus, matching up against Knicks Gallo and Amare presents unique problems. Something has to jump start this struggling team since the trend of falling behind in 1st Q or by half-time has to end - and end soon.

i agree with what you said, but for some reason, looking at that lineup makes my head hurt

You have backed him constantly and I think for someone who has had his back to say something like this speaks volumes about Westphal's decision... I hope he does change his mind~
There are too many things wrong with this for me to know where to begin.

JT starting at the 3 before giving Donte 3 mins in the last 5 games combined? JT just had his best game of the year at pf, not sf.

Crushing the confidence of Omri? I'm the first to admit Omri has a quick trigger, but is that why he's going to the bench? JT chasing Gallo on the perimeter will not be pretty.

You CANNOT do this for a game, and then re-insert Omri on friday. This isn't musical chairs.

Head for Beno? Doesn't help us set up our offense in the least. This won't be pretty either. And is this how you treat Beno, one of our most consistent vets. He is our only true NBA pg right now, with Tyreke still learning how to set up an offense, and you bench him for Head? Beno is what he is, but that is also one of our top 4 players right now, without question.

Twp lineup changes against NY? What does that say to the guys? I need to make all these changes so you can beat a team that has lost 6 in a row. I can understand a single change if Dallas/Lakers/Miami etc were coming, but NY? Shows no confidence in the team.

So, JT is already not happy being out of position. We all kow Donte isn't happy. Omri won't be happy. Beno will be fuming. Think Tyreke would rather have a Beno/Cisco starting next to him, or Head? There are a lot of unhappy guys on this team.

On top of all that, the one guy he refuses to move around in Landry, who has been the most disappointing starter all year. I'm literally shocked.

It won't be praised by me! Stupid move, even if we win by 40!

really?!?! now i dont agree with this lineup either, but if the coach makes a coaching move and we win by 40 (highly unlikely). id say we give credit where its due. i would have prefered to see the evans, cisco, casspi line up myself but if we dont fall behind by 20 to start off the first half like many of our other games, i wont call for westphals head for trying to figure out a lineup this early in the season

For what it's worth, oddsmakers currently favor Kings over Knicks by 4 with over-under 210. It was same line yesterday before lineup change. Also, Napear just signed off w/o talking to PW. I expect coach will be interviewed about 5 mins before 7pm as is the custom.

I always think that win or lose, THIS should be our REGULAR/NIGHTLY rotation

Guards:

Reke (PG/SG)
Beno (PG/SG)
Cisco (SG)

Forwards

Omri (SF)
Donte (SF)
JT (PF)
Landry (PF)

Centers

Dalembert
DMC

This should be it All of these players should get a steady amount of minutes. JT is not a small forward. I hate to say it but I think Westphal is just not a good coach.

Questions

Are the Kings going to hit their outside shots tonight?

And will we ever see Donte Greene again? He's so in the dog house, that the camera man doesn't even pan over to him on the bench anymore. :D

PW just said new lineup is mainly about trying to get better D. Beno and the others off the bench will get plenty of minutes but Kings defense is key in coaches mind.

From Westpahl's pregame interview with Gary Gerould:

PW: Lose five in a row you have to change things up. Thinks they need to get a different D line up. Its a line up he thinks has a chance to be real good for them. Literally names everyone but Donte to get time off the bench. Says its a way to get JT some PT. Feels Beno is valuable either way (starting or off the bench), but can get by with out his ball handling with Head and Reke. Says this makes a lot of sense a lot of different ways.

Says O and D go hand in hand. 1 and 3's have been doing a lot of damage, not to put it all on Omri and Beno but they need different looks on D. Need Beno for O, but there are players he cannot guard.

Getting good looks on the perimeter. Forcing very little. Keep telling the good shooters to take the shots but still want to play inside out.

....Thoughts on the Knicks.....

Just a warning -- the lineup is stupid, and Westphal seems to be on an aggressive campaign to lose the team. But do not be surprised if the Reke/Head pairing may provide a real boost to our defense. This is another tone deaf move and threatens to add Beno to the unhappy player pile, bu there is a germ of theory there as to how/why this could work, short term at least.

I don't recall Beno ever complaining about getting his minutes off the bench or as a starter. He certainly plays the same whichever role it is - the sign of a solid pro. I think young Casspi is more likely to complain but I doubt he will since all he's done of late is allow SF after SF to arrive in Sac and severely torch us.

The Knicks may be one of the few teams struggling more than the Kings, so this could be a win. It could also be another disaster with longterm consequences.
