Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“It’s just a tremendous win on our part. We stayed with it. When they got the lead at the end of the fourth quarter, and hit some big shots, the patience at the end of the game there when Brad (Miller) hit the three was terrific. We had plenty of time, we moved the ball around, and they made a mistake and left Brad standing there. In overtime, we took control of the overtime, especially when Odom fouled out. I felt a real advantage there with Kenny inside on Walton and we just went to it and he produced. It’s one of those games where you keep staying with it. Kobe was terrific, but I kept telling my guys, it’s not about how many points he scores, it’s about us winning. He’s going to get his shots up, he’s going to score his points, but you need to stay with it. You can’t get down, you need to keep playing, and our guys did a great job. It’s a great win before we go on the road.”
“We talked about it in the break, that we needed the first spurt. We needed to jump on them early and then we were really going to concentrate on coming to Kobe every chance we had. With Francisco, I thought he was up on him, and there’s nothing you can do with that guy. He’s going to make tough shots on you, but we wanted to take it out of his hands in overtime and make somebody else shoot the ball. Our guys did a good job of doing that, and once we got a little bit of a lead they were throwing a lot of threes up there. I like the way we stayed with it. It was a tough game, it was a heck of a game in the fourth quarter and overtime. So many guys did a good job, Mike was terrific, Kenny down the stretch, Brad finally made a shot and sent it to overtime. But it was a great win.”
“I thought (Shareef) was pretty good. He hasn’t done anything for weeks. He practiced twice, briefly. But I thought he came in, he gave us 11 points in 19 minutes. I really didn’t expect him playing that many but when you get in a game like this, on TNT, the timeouts are forever, and so I could extend his minutes a little bit. I tried to get him in there the last four minutes of each quarter, and then he could extend it over to the next quarter.”
Mike Bibby
“We have to try and carry this on to the road trip and see where it goes from there. I didn’t know what the hell Brad was doing. It went down and that’s all that matters. It was a big win. We kept fighting and we didn’t give up. I kept telling everybody the game’s not over yet and we did what we had to do in overtime. I feel like I can make every shot so that’s why I shoot [big shots]. I know the fans here don’t care too much for the [Los Angeles] Lakers. It’s always going to be a rivalry, I think.”
Kenny Thomas
“The [Lakers] had some guys that fouled out and Coach (Adelman) was calling a play for me. I was just trying to be aggressive. Of course I’m a bigger guy than (Luke) Walton. The very first time I got it, Mike told me not to settle for anything less than a lay-up so I was just trying to get to the hole and be aggressive. Coach kept on saying that Kobe (Bryant) was going to score a lot of points, but there’s not too much you can do about that. I’m just happy we got a win.”
On Brad Miller’s game-tying three-pointer:
“Francisco (Garcia) drove and he kicked it back to me and then I noticed Brad. Brad’s a better three-point shooter than me, so I just threw it to him with no hesitation. I told him he was going to knock down the next one. He didn’t believe me, but he hit it and that’s all that matters.”
On first career-triple double:
“It feels good. It’s another notch on my belt that I’ve accomplished. It’s over with now, and we just need to keep on winning. We have to go on this long road trip and if we keep on playing the way we’re playing, we should be all right.”

LA LAKERS
Lakers Coach Phil Jackson
“With our club we’re still learning what’s a good enough lead. We didn’t use the clock wisely and they made some big plays. There was 13.3 seconds on the clock when they took it out of bounds. That’s too early to foul in a situation like that. The team played well enough to win it, but they didn’t finish. When you’re on the road, you have to do some things to win because it’s a little bit extra special. We got an offensive foul called against us, and Lamar (Odom) got that offensive foul. Those things pile up against you. We made a foul on Bibby with a minute to go. You got to give it to Sacramento. They are a veteran team and they know what to do to win at the end. At the end of the game, I wanted to give Lamar a chance to redeem himself in that situation. Sometimes you do that as a coach. He was supposed to find the play or make the play.”
Lamar Odom
“There was thirty-three seconds left and we had the ball. I’ll take the blame for that one. We should have run the clock down a little bit more but I had just hit that shot and I was thinking get to the basket. I just wished I put my team in a better position. The flop call kind of gave them new life. I thought it was Kenny and I at the basket, but I guess he drew the charge. I guess it was the right call.”
Kobe Bryant
“I wasn’t thinking the win was in the bag, but I thought we had a good shot to win it. A lot of crazy things can happen in the NBA and tonight was one of those nights. We had a chance to win the game and we just didn’t close it out. They made some big shots down the stretch and came away with the victory. I don’t care about my 50 points. The game is won or lost on the defensive end.”
