Great ****ing play Smart! Again, why do you have Douglas on the floor there? He is not a good offensive player. And like another poster said, he had Jimmer playing defense the set before. This guy is dumb as a rock.

Think you might underestimate a change of scenery and what other teams might have to offer. There's also no guarantee a new gm and coach don't buy into the IT hype from this regime. We just don't know.
The hope is it all works out. The hope is homework/preparation is done. The hope is a new GM/coach know exactly what they're dealing with. But you never know.

I won't even respond to that other than to say that you obviously don't know the game very well.
These players, contrary to your earlier comments, CARE about these games. If you're rolling on the floor laughing because one of our players is that frustrated about a game that could have and should have been won, that's on you.
It won't be about money; he can get that here. New owners will want to win quickly, it's good for business.
Now, if Reke feels totally Maloofed, then you're right, he's out.

All depends on the new owners. If they want to they can keep him right? Qualifying offer this summer(by june?) then he is restricted free agent unless I am missing something.

I actually didn't hear him say that. I just know from reviewing a lot of basketball film in my life that usually if you have to watch a play a bunch of times and still can't tell you usually just give credit to the referee who was right there and made the call or no-call.
What I'm not going to underestimate is the difference owners like Vivek, Mastrov, Burkle and Jacobs will make in setting the tone from the top to the bottom. Vivek has watched Tyreke play enough to know his value to this franchise going forward. I have every faith that the new owners will meet with Evans and his agent and make sure they understand that what has happened to Evans thus far in his career will not be continued. Committed owners and a competent coach will make the difference.
Am I just guessing? Maybe, in an educated NBA-fan for over 40 years kind of way. Evans and Cousins are the future of this franchise. I'm pretty sure the Fab Four ownership group is well aware of that. You build around those two; you don't let them get away because of the lunacy currently directing the team.

QO this June/July, yes. But, after the QO you're unrestricted the following summer, not restricted. So he'll be here in Oct, but if he's deferring to IT to start the season? He'll most likely have his eyes set on free agency next July.
A little over a year from now he can talk to anyone and everyone and we can't match. Up to him. If he was restricted next year I wouldn't worry. But that ship has sailed.

And, by the way, what I said is totally different than what you say Grant said. My point is if you are trying to determine whether a referee got a call wrong whether it's a call or a no-call and you have to watch the play 13 times and still can't definitively tell, you give the ref credit for a correct call or no-call. Make sense?

That's the hope. I don't disagree with it. But I also think it'll be more the new GM and coach.
If this were his walk year I'd agree with you. If he really wants out he'll take the qualifying option and be an unrestricted free agent in 2014. So worst-case we get one more year with a new owner, coach, and front office to convince him to stay. I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll work out in our favor. The turnaround absolutely has to happen this off-season though. Time is running out (in more ways than one, obviously).

Watching the Smart post game interview. I wonder if any of these guys will have the balls to ask him about how he mismanaged the last few sets both offensively and defensively.

I personally don't want to see him walk without compensation but I don't believe he is as important to the future of this franchise as others do. He's not a leader and hasn't significantly improved his game since his rookie year. His jumper is better this year but he's not a guy who can single-handedly make your team a winner (like a James, Wade, Duncan, Kobe, Durant, etc.). He's a good complimentary piece.

And to anyone reading, what do you think the chances are that no one offers a deal to Tyreke that is over that amount and not just for one year...

Yes, I'm not referring to this summer only though. We can keep Reke no matter what this summer. Sign him to the one year QO or match anyone else's offer. Knowing that we can match any offer and he'd be tied up for years, he most likely signs the QO. This summer isn't the issue.
However, after signing the QO this summer, he's unrestricted the following summer. So unless we lock him up to a multi-year deal this summer, he'll be unrestricted the following June, which is probably what he and his agent want. He could of course still sign with us, but he'll have options and we can't match at that point.
Look at the Brandon Jennings situation. He's rumored to want out. Drafted same year as Reke. He'll sign a one year QO this summer, then be unrestricted and bolt the following.

I don't think anyone will offer him the max, because of how he's been managed, but I'm sure someone will offer something pretty good. It really depends: how many teams have the capspace and need a dynamic guard?
