Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

I don’t buy the capela link. I don’t see how we can play him and sabonis together considering how much we emphasize on space and shooting.

Same idea with Lavine. If we don't include picks, I don't think it's the worst idea to risk. We'd be like one of the only teams with the cash to pay him what he wants and even if he walked... you guarantee Monks new contract and get a reset on Huerter and HB money
 
I remember scouring the web for trade intel last year, watching clips of potential trade targets and spending way too much time on fanspo only to watch Mason Plumlee get traded to the Clippers :D

I enjoy trade season, even finding interest in other teams trade wishes but it can be exhausting. Shams said Monte wanted to build chemistry with any additions and I agree whole heartedly. Make a move by Friday or don’t make one at all I say.
 
Definitely the most unique star trade situation in a long time. Seems like the Kings aren’t completely out of the Siakam chase, but obviously will not give up as many assets with Siakam not wanting to guarantee a long-term commitment to the team.
 
Knicks are hearing offers for Quentin Grimes. Apparently they are looking for a backup distributor. I’m sure Thibs would love Davion but I think they need more length from that position. Do y’all have interest in Grimes and is there even a package that would interest them. I love Monk but is there a Grimes/Hartenstein package that could somehow happen?
 
Grimes is not really an upgrade over Keon, just more experienced version of. They are the same age as well. If Brown reduced Keon's time on the court to improve Davion's attractiveness in a trade, then I don't see any value.

I would disagree with you. Grimes is a big step better than Keon. He was a starting SG last year and one of the league's better defenders there. He was a 2nd year player who was a starter on a playoff team. Grimes is a good shooter who's more consistent than Keon (who has hesitancy with that shot for some odd reason).

The biggest difference is their size.
  • Grimes is 6'5 210lbs with a 6'8 wingspan.
  • Keon is 6'3 175lbs with a 6'8.5" wingspan.
Grimes' size and strength allows him to guard most SGs and some wings, but Keon is limited in his matchups.

I think Grimes is a great answer for what we're looking for, but the answer would be to just play both in the rotation. Not entirely sure why the Knicks are souring on him, but he'd be a great fit at the 2 here

He's been pretty bad defensively in ATL though, despite his reputation. Just been an oil-water combo with him and Trae.

I think i'd rather go here than go LaVine though. At least Murray has actually played good defense before in the NBA and he's on a much more palatable deal with 2 more seasons and a PO after this year for like 10-15 mil less than LaVine. Unprotect our first this year, send them a 26 FRP?

I think Lavine is the better off ball player. I don’t think I can get behind DMurr. I’d rather our swing be for a forward, we need size. If the trade is Lavine, need to find a Dean Wade type player to lock it down at the 4.

After Brooks and VanVleet, almost all they have are young guys lol.

They’ll probably try to trade Bullock, Jeff Green, and second rounder/s for HB…Bullock in theory is a good piece but isn’t having a good season. No Jeff Green even though we may be the last team he has never played for.

Maybe they trade Jalen Green. I heard they’re getting tired of him.

I see no fit. They want to give up Oladipo or Landale or Jeff Green. We can't trade Barnes for cap space and picks. Makes no sense for us. As you said, it's not like they're going to put Jabari or Amen on the table. Maybe in a crazy squint they might give up Tari Eason? It's unlikely enough that I'm not going to go through the cap stuff, but it would probably have to be Barnes+(Kessler?)+(cut JTA for roster space) for Eason+Oladipo+Landale to make salaries work. I'd have to at least consider that one. Might help us in the long run if Eason can bring up his shooting a bit.

Ya that’s a hard pass atleast Lavine can play small ball SF and I still no that keen on him. We need athletic wings or we will never contend with teams like LA, Minnesota, NO and Denver and that’s just the west

I just feel like there’s some multi team trade brewing that’s not even on our radar..
 
With the news that Houston is interested in Barnes, that makes them a perfect three team partner with us and Portland. We would need to send out Barnes in any Jerami Grant trade, and Portland would likely have no interest in Barnes. So how about (this works on Trade Machine):

Kings Get: Jerami Grant and JeSean Tate
Kings Give: Barnes (Houston) Davion (Portland) Duarte (Portland) Kessler (Portland), 2026 FRP (Portland)

Why: Upgrade Barnes to Grant, at the cost of a FRP. Also get a look at Tate, who is a guy I have long thought is a nice bench big wing.

Blazers Get: Mitchell, Duarte, Kessler, Victor Oladipo, 2026 FRP (Kings), 2024 SRP (Rockets)
Blazers Give: Grant, 2030 SRP (Houston)

Why: Get a FRP and decent SRP for Grant, while also unloading his entire $27M contract to create cap space to build around their young guys. Oladipo, Mitchell, and Kessler are all expiring contracts, and Duarte has one more year. Immediately frees up $23M in cap space. Also get a chance to take a look at Mitchell. They give up a distant, protected second round pick to satisfy the rule that every team has to touch every other team in the trade.

Rockets Get: Barnes
Rockets Give: Tate, Oladipo, 2024 SRP (Portland)

Why: upgrade Tate to Barnes at the cost of a second round pick this year (probably low 40s). Barnes gives them more veteran leadership and shooting than Tate, and they could use both of those things.

Maybe the picks are off. Maybe we need to give more picks, or maybe Houston does, but the structure of this trade, with the involved players would be a win-win-win I think.

Could also do it with Thybulle instead of Tate, but then Houston would need to send Boban to Portland, and we would have to send Javale as well. Not sure Portland would want that may players back, and Javale is also not an expiring. So the Grant/Tate trade would seem more likely, if we could get the picks right.

I’d love him on this team. He’d instantly be our starting SG and helps elevate the team defensively. He would be able to take on the tough defensive assignments that we’ve seen Keegan be tasked with. We lose some of the “knock down” shooting from Kevin, but I think Grimes makes up for it on defense.

Grimes isn’t someone who can effectively run an offense or score in a hurry. I think they essentially want a 6MOY caliber player, or a good backup PG. I also think they see Grimes as an expendable piece because they already have Donte and Hart who have similar size and skill sets.
