YikesMarch
I still cant get past the fact we managed to get some fool (Sixers) to take Landry's contract. Sure we had to package JT and Sauce, but holy cow-- way to go Vlade!!
Isn't our goal the playoffs? We aren't screwed in the future...
Our 2016 pick is top 10 protected to the Bulls. The Sixers can only swap if we retain our pick.
Ex:
If our 2016 pick lands outside of top 10, the Bulls get it, and Philly gets an option to swap our picks in 2017.
HOWEVER, if our pick lands INSIDE the top 10, and we retain our pick, the Sixers have the option in swapping picks for 2016. We will not owe them a 2017 1st round pick swap.
A potential pick swap for 2017 only occurs if the Sixers don't get the opportunity to swap in 2016.
Also, what are the odds that Philly is better than us the next 2 years?
Then in 2018, it's a protected 1st round pick.
So it's honestly not that bad.
How long ago did Wes Matthews injure his Achilles?
If the Kings can get two quality players (some combination of Mathews, Ellis, Lawson, Rondo, etc...) for JT, Landry, Nik, and a future pick it will be worth it.
On the other hand, I don't think it's pure coincidence that 76ers dangled in 2 euros (Mitrovic and Gudaitis). Mitrovic is Serbian which would probably safe to say the Vlade knows this kid well. And Gudaitis is from Lithuania pretty much same basketball region that Vlade oversees. Both are more like stretch 4 based on NBA Draft profiles. It would be interesting if Vlade actually calls them to the US mid season and give them a roster spot.
So I would say that this trade is a Vlade call and I think he'll fill this up nicely.(fingers-crossed)
What if everything goes amazing and we win the Championship? And if it goes to all hell and we win the lottery next year or in 2017? Or finish in the top 3 by the luck of the lotto balls?
So if he got injured in March, will he be ready for the start of the season?
I would hate it a lot less if they had done it before the meat of free agency was over. We cleared cap to go after the scraps. We coulda offered Danny Green, Middleton and Draymond more then they got. Would they have signed? Probably not, but we look desperate now.Hate this move. Who starts at PF now? WCS? Never good to have to count on a rookie, especially a rookie big. And who backs him up?
Not to mention giving up on Sauce.
All with no guarantee that they even sign more talented players with the added caproom. Last time it was letting Tyreke go only to flirt with Iggy and ultimately add Landry.
And with rumblings of continued dysfunction. Sometimes I wonder why I follow this team.
If this free agency is a disaster and the Boogie/Karl issue(s) aren't resolved I'm not sure I have the stomach for another hopeless season.
So you're saying that by dropping Jason Thompson and Carl Landry - and adding WCS, the Kings went from "not worst" to "worst"? Where were we before, "second from worst"? These are a couple of journeymen we're talking about here.Impossible to judge this trade until we see how they spend the money, which makes me less than excited. Is love to shore up our backcourt but all 3 of rondo, Ellis and Wes have huge question marks and right now we'd have the weakest front court in the league.
This sort of move could blow up so badly that the Cousins situation will have to be resolved within the range of its quarantine zone, because the only way you recover from this mistake is trading the only actual assets you have left.

Its more about his D, in a ideal and best case scenario if Wes can come back and be that post up SG similar to former Trailblazer Bonzi Wells (who we dodged a massive bullet by not re-signign/him backing out) that would help us a lot. Wes is obviously a better shooter as well but if he could play at a similar level would be nice. How much does an achilles injury effect a shooter?

lolwut? This is a troll post right?Back when James Ham gave his big podcast it was mentioned that Vivek refused to hire Karl and pushed for Mullin because Mullin was already under contract and he wouldn't have to get paid. There was also some discussion of a big mutiny from the minority owners who didn't want to pay tool much for another coach.
Now we are seeing legit talent being shipped off for cash. Vivek is a joke and has been since day 1.
There's something that I've always found incongruous about the notion that a person should be expected to put up with X amount of bull****, because, millions of dollars!
IMO Nik is a bust. JT and Landry (two stints) have both added zero wins to our franchise over the years. We've been in rebuild for almost a decade and things are getting worse. The leagues best big man is getting impatient. Now is the time people. Win. Now.
We wanted to make a splash in free agency, we just created a freaking tsunami. Yes, there are risks. But the rewards could be much greater. I applaud Vlade for having the balls to make a deal like this.
