Kings to Seattle?

If anything, I'd see the league selling the Hornets to Seattle.

Marcos Breton has a pretty good article about the Maloofs and their possible future. It's well worth the read.

This to me would be worse than them moving to Anaheim. I really don't see Seattle getting an arena done any quicker than Sac could though.

It's no secret that there are cities that want an NBA team. And the Kings name is going to be on the list as possible teams to be moved. But none of them can take the Kings if our arena moves forward and gets built.

I think real danger is that Sac fails to get the financing package in place - soon! If not, all sorts of relocation options are very much front and center. It would force NBAs hand as league has already said current arena is substandard with NCAA already putting ban on its teams holding events in the old run down facility. Even a temporary move to a city with an emply arena like Kansas City or Lousiville could be fall back option with permanent move to Seattle or somewhere else perhaps at a later date.

True, but both of those places want teams permanently.

It's frustrating seeing everyone targeting the Kings when the Hornets are just out their with an apathetic fan base and no ownership. Seattle knows what its like to have their team stolen, not that I'd expect them to care... but in any event it would be too much for me as I've become heavily invested in the Portland/Seattle rivalry.

Err...Not sure why the Maloofs would move from a place with an old arena working on getting a new one built to a place with an even older arena that hasn't even gotten as far as Sacramento has on the new arena front.

Meh....All that matters is that Sac get an arena deal in place, and then it shuts up all this other talk. We control our own destiny.

As much as Sacramento controls its own destiny we're still saddled with the Maloofs who are in pretty much no position to be the owners of the team and their ability or inability to contribute to the new arena will have tons of impact no matter how much public financing is secured.

True, but that will impact the Maloofs more than Sacramento. If you believe what Stern says, that he expects NBA owners to contribute to an arena being built, then the Maloofs are the ones who lose. I would have to believe there are buyers out there who would want to buy the Kings knowing all they have to do to get a new arena is agree to pay rent. PR nightmare for the NBA to let the team walk if Sac does its part.

If the Maloofs cannot contribute, they'll be forced out. The NBA isn't just going to just let them walk out on Sacramento when we have a legitimate arena plan in place if the only snag in the plan is the Maloofs.

...I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Good point sir.

My heart truly wants to believe that, but I'm not sure my head does.

They'd surely rename them the Sonics so you should rightfully feel disgusted.

I'm right there with you. I moved to Seattle last summer from the Bay Area (grew up in Sacramento). Living in a city without NBA is odd....I just don't feel any connection whatsoever with the Blazers (the Seattle "regional" team). If Seattle gets a team, I will follow and adopt them, but seeing the Kings in Seattle would be only marginally less painful for me than Anaheim. I haven't lived in Sacramento for over 15 years, but it's still my hometown. Would much rather see the hornets or an expansion team in Seattle.

Agree with you Taxman. I probably wont be here forever anyways (I'm one of those guys who feels the need to move every other year), so why should I selfishly root for the Kings to become the Sonics?

We need a team up here though, but yeah...It should be the Hornets.

If the Kings moved up there I guarantee Sacramento would quickly adopt Portland's nickname for your city :D
