[Game] Kings @ Thunder - 4/24/12

Reke has been amazing tonight. Nice little two man game with DMC resulting in easy buckets.

Maybe Smart will notice that he's better as a SG?

Nah...That'll never happen. MT comes back and Reke goes to SF where he belongs. :p

Pretty much sucks. He's basically showing why he should be at SG. His passing is improving, defense is only going to get better, and his jumper is coming along

Okay, I took a moment and transcribed this portion of the broadcast. It took place just as the third quarter was getting underway:

Grant: One thing you know about coming into games like this is the battle at the point guard. Coach Smart expands on the problem.

(Cut to clip of Coach Smart)

Smart: Good point guards in the league, they know when to take over the game and when to back off and let their players play. And I share with Isaiah sometimes and with Jimmer, "Sometime look who's hot and you step out of the picture. Just rebound and pass the ball tonight, defend. And now when you see the game has gotten real stagnant, now it's time for you to go because those guys with high energy and high motors will always be in those positions to make those adjustments in the course of the game.

(End clip)

Grant: And there's a guy (camera on Isaiah Thomas) who's well on his way to being an upper echelon point guard.

Jerry: Because he understands the demands that Coach Smart is putting on him. When you really talk about the things Coach Smart just said, that's Steve Nash, that's John Stockton, that's Magic Johnson, that's how they play the game and that's what he expects from his lead guard.

Grant: And I'l tell you - two of those guys, Steve Nash and John Stockton, they didn't look like this their rookie year.

Jerry: No they didn't. They played very little in fact.

Regardless of the content as far as IT's skill level, etc., am I the only one having trouble reconciling Grant and Jerry's obvious ROY propaganda with the quote from Smart?

Worst part is Jerry is a member of our FO. Explains a lot.

I am both laughing and crying.

No, wait, just crying. Oh well, if history tells us anything, it's that IT is about to be moved to SF.

Whats wrong with having a player who is better than Nash/Stockton? Personally, I'm super psyched we have a player who is better than Nash/Stockton.

Reminds me off Kahn comparing Darko to Vlade. It's funny, and stupid, until it's your own team.

Just odd, how Reke/Cuz were dominating the first 6-7 mins of the half, then we took the ball out of Reke's hands completely, put it in IT's, and then started going to IT/Outlaw/JT instead. Now we're losing...

Cisco did something dumb again....I fear for VF21's TV.

I have actually moved into my bedroom to watch the rest of the game (big thanks for laptops and wireless routers) where the TV is smaller and much easier to replace. The ability of Cisco to irritate me has now reached epic proportions. In fact, seeing him step onto the court causes an immediate rise in blood pressure.

I know that there's something to be said for "passing tired horses," but this game, and the game @CHA have shown glimpses of what this team is capable of playing like. Still probably two players away (defensive big + full-sized sf), but this team is better than its record indicates.

If we end up picking top 3, I'm gonna send Cook flowers.

Dude is saving our tank!

edit: assuming we dont wose.

So much to be positive about from tonight's game, win or lose. If we can get the starters back on the court before the 6 minute mark, I predict a win...

And look, Garcia teases us by doing something good. I have no fear, however, that he will quickly correct the situation.
