What is the deal with people hating on Holmes all of the sudden. I’m saddened by your cynicism.
Just real funny when Sabonis gets here he gets injured over all star break. Valid curiosityWhat is the deal with people hating on Holmes all of the sudden. I’m saddened by your cynicism.

Yep. Fox is playing too good now so we’ve just moved on to Richaun lolYou gotta hate on someone. Those are the rules.![]()
the guy had a nice night (I don't think he's the long term answer but let's see some more) but he was getting dogged on the socials basically for the mere fact he replaced guys the toxic twitter fandom hates. Not a believer in Lyles, huh?
Feel like he may not be a good fit but he's been really struggling since the eye pokes and the loss of his family member, I'm not sure why people won't allow him time to get in the right space. He's been good to us. The worst are the people that harass his mom on twitter. WHY??? why would you do that? What is the deal with people hating on Holmes all of the sudden. it's not like they won't nitpick Fox's worst stat of the night. Or like complain about a missed shot or turnover when the team gave up 15 points while Sabonis and Fox were benched for 8 minutes in a close game.Yep. Fox is playing too good now so we’ve just moved on to Richaun lol
DDV is interesting to me because I don't quite know if he is actually a winning player or not. I can honestly see him either being a core piece or never being much more than a mid bench player for the rest of his career. Everything he does on offense is really shaky. He's out there looking to play the right way and he's a pass first player but there's nothing he does on offense that doesn't make me nervous. It's like his career is sort of teetering on this weird edge to where it's hard to tell if he's a high level roleplayer or an inconsistent bench player. Either way I'm glad Monte is taking the chance on him and I'd definitely give him a contract to find out which it is.
Holiday is like a low usage Buddy. He's either shooting 1-6 or 4-6 from beyond the arc. He's going to be 33 in a month so he doesn't have much tread left. He's definitely playing below his level the last 3 years but he could very well be an unfortunate Sacramento casualty where they come here and their career dies in an instant.
I can squint and see the playoffs if they can hit on the draft and get a consistent outside shooter who isn't a total failure on defense.
I'm admittedly the biggest DDV homer on the board, but I think he's more than proven he's a winning player with his last 2 healthy seasons. You don't start for the Bucks and be a crucial rotation guy for them the last 2 years if you aren't an impactful winning player. Hasn't been good this year coming back from injury, but we've absolutely seen the flashes with him in Sacramento as he gets his legs back. And the only reason he was available is because the Bucks couldn't afford him and looked to get a win-now piece in Ibaka to boost their title run.
Obviously need to see more of a minutes sample, but the Kings actually have a positive Net Rtg with him on the floor and a massive defensive improvement:
106.3 DefRtg On the floor (137 minutes)
115.9 DefRtg Off the floor
106.8 ORtg On the floor
110.9 ORtg Off the floor
Net: +5.4
For reference, the 106.3 DefRtg would be 5th in the NBA while the 115.9 would just barely be ahead of the Rockets "defense" and 29th in the NBA. I don't obviously expect he's that impactful, but I think it does line up well with the eye test how getting effective getting a good/great perimeter defender does for defensive success. Along with Davion at the PoA (who btw, has a +7.8 net DefRtg in 1442 minutes.)
You have to figure that next year with the right coach and system installed between Fox and Sabonis the other 3 guys are going to get lots of open looks. Especially if we are able to solidify the other 3/4 spot in the rotation, the second guard being a defensive specialist will be fine and probably be the biggest beneficiary from others being doubled.I'm a huge fan of his as well but players don't turn out the way we want about 90% of the time so I'm not going to get my hopes up again until I see some real impact.
Sometimes role players get here and just don't play well at all. Dedmon almost played himself out of the league and now he looks like an adequate player again in Miami. Hill failed miserably as well. DDV had a ton of talent around him in Milwaukee that more than likely made him look better than he really is. They get more open shots than our players do. Their defenders are long and actually know how to defend. There are just a lot more efficient opportunities on both sides of the ball in Milwaukee than there are here.
He can defend no matter what team he is on, that's not a concern at all. We just don't have enough statistics to tell us if he's a good shooter or not. From 3 he's had 2 very poor shooting years, one slightly below average year and one slightly above average year. His FT shooting is 87% this year but it was never better than 75% before that. His 2pt% has also gotten worse every year. Went from extremely good his rookie year to extremey bad this year. There's nothing about his stats that say that he just needs an offseason worth of shooting practice to become a 38% outside shooter. He's really a crapshoot but those are the kinds of plays this franchise needs to make because eventually some of these guys are going to get good at the same time and make a run.

I’ve been wondering the same! Dude becomes part of the heart and soul of this team, gives them the hometown discount when he renews his contract, and when he goes through a tough time his reward is a bunch of shade from the “fans” and his organization shopping that “team friendly” contract around! smh A sad reminder that the NBA’s a business and loyalty goes unrewarded now. Do Better, kingsfans. What is the deal with people hating on Holmes all of the sudden. I’m saddened by your cynicism.

Yeah, I'm basically just throwing out this year for him and designating it a "rehab" season. I'll be a lot more worried if we don't see the efficiency spike to his normal 54-56% TS by game 1 of next year. The playmaking, rebounding and defense have all shown really nice flashes with us. The only thing missing his him getting back to passable shooting/efficiency levels.
DDV is only 25 and he's a smaller player which should help with rebounding from the injury. I think the thing with ankles though is players can play through them in ways that don't obviously impact other parts of the game. The offseason should help the recovery.I think you guys are both making some very big assumptions here. Assuming that we'll have the right coach who implements the right style is something the Kings had glimpses with for one of Joerger's seasons and a partial season with Malone but it has not happened otherwise since Adelman was here. I'm not going to just assume all the right pieces will be in place next year because who knows what's going to happen. We could get what we think will be the right pieces and it could fail anyway. Has happened multiple times since the glory days.
I don't think we can just throw out this season for DDV because the injury he had is very real and has obviously impacted his game. We have no idea if it has completely derailed his career or not. Different injuries but Gay has been a shell of himself after his injury and Cousins went from superstar stats to hanging in the league by a thread. Thinking DDV is just going to magically become pre injury Milwaukee DDV is just a pure assumption based on nothing other than us just wanting him to get back to that level. I don't know about you but I certainly wouldn't make a big bet with someone that he will pick up where he left off next year.

They are the worst, but if you don't watch the games and only look at twitter you would think only the worst things about our decent to good players. Being outside the media market is a hindrance too since I no longer know/recognize most of the players and it's clear a large chunk probably grew up idolizing Jim Rome and that type instead of actual journalism.Aw hell no, people are harassing Dr Holmes?!?
Well, Twitter is a cesspool, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
The pass he made to DDV was probably the best of his career
It's not like he didn't do the drive and kick thing or throw easy buckets to Marv in his rookie season before everything went south. If he keeps working on being a distributor as well as a scorer, it makes shipping Hali out a lot easier to swallow.
It'll be interesting to see how Fox continues to develop now that he has another star player next to him.
That’s exactly what it isYep. Fox is playing too good now so we’ve just moved on to Richaun lol
Fox has been fantastic. I love seeing him have fun like thisNot just you....I think Sabonis is rubbing off on him.
