Welcome, fellow Kings fans!
I'll warn you ahead of time - this is gonna be a tough one for me. Seeing Webber in a retro Philly uniform against the Kings in Philly was one thing. Seeing him in Sixers garb in ARCO is going to be totally different. I fully expect to be reduced to a quivering mass of tears by tip-off. This is the final nail in the coffin to end the era, so to speak.
I do these play-by-play threads to provide an ongoing description of the game for our members who cannot see or hear the game by other means. I'm able to do that because we HAVE Kingsfans.com and the person we thank for that is our board owner, Jeremy. Guests can come here and read our threads without registering. If they wish to participate in discussions, they can register without charge. That's a pretty good deal to be part of the most active Kings message board on the Internet.
If you would like to help defray the costs of keeping Kings fans up and operating, you can consider becoming a Contributing Member. For more information, check out the thread in the Lounge: http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3881
I have my lucky socks, my Bibby jersey (I regret to admit I do not own a Webber jersey or I would be wearing it with pride tonight), my purple slippers and my Kings blankey. I have a new batch of Hazelnut coffee ready for brewing. I've already brought in my supply of firewood for the evening and I have an adequate supply (I hope) of tissues on hand for what I know will be a very emotional player introduction segment of tonight's game.
If you want to discuss the game as it progresses, you have a couple of options. You can participate in the game discussion thread started by piksi. In addition, you can visit the CHAT at mIRC, server: irc.bludgeon.org, channel: #KingsFans. All I ask is that you NOT post game comments, discussion, etc. in this thread as it can get confusing for people trying to follow the game.
This is gonna be an interesting evening. I hope Webber does well, but not well enough to propel the Sixers to a win.
I do have one real regret - I wish the Sixers hadn't put Matt Barnes on the injured list because I would love for him to receive some kind of acknowledgement in ARCO for the job he did for us in his all-too-short time in a Kings uniform. My solemn prayer is that he will, in fact, be back as a King. He is a special young man and the story of his life-long dream coming true is just too special to end with him sitting on an IL in a town that simply doesn't appreciate him.
GO KINGS!!!!!
