Kings signing Killian Hayes (10 day contract)

And...ok. Didn't mind him coming out of the draft but this is Fultz part 2. The Kings are a little short on bodies though. If this kicks Carter off the floor and Clifford out of ball handling then this franchise is still pretty much stupid. Which would shock nobody. If it kicks Westbrook off then whatever.

And he immediately becomes our best point guard 👍🏻

Perry has had enough shots in the dark with "PG's". If they let another 10 day guy gobble minutes like Fultz did last year while still playing the vets then this pointless exercise of Kangz ball isn't ending any time soon. If he joins the young guys then great, but you can't trust anyone in this org. Just can't.

I guess the devin carter experiment is over... I was floating the idea of signing Mac McClung, at least there would be the possibility of a crazy play happening

Eh, these arguments are always stupid. Age doesn't matter, what your experience in the NBA is, does.

Exactly. It doesn't matter if a player is 24, if they're a rookie, they'll have rookie issues. They need to have a steeper curve but this is all about opportunity and reps at the end of the day. If the Kings are trying to cut corners per usual then nothing about this organization has changed nor will it. Been there, done this, bought the shirt. On the surface this looks like a great way to pull Westbrook or Monk from the rotation. Anything else would be as stupid as it usually is.

Doesn’t really hurt to take a swing on a guy on a ten-day. Not like we were going to use that roster slot for someone important

Yeah, but look at Fultz last year. That got in the way of Carter when it shouldn't have. I can totally see Hayes getting in the way of both Carter and Clifford. And literally for no reason, they aren't even in the play in hunt lol. When the Kings don't Kings they Kangz. We'll know immediately what's up first game out.

Just wondering out loud, something I've been thinking about? At what point do the Kings allow Westbrook to find a landing spot and waive him? He can't possibly want to stick around the rest of this season. Quite possible there are no landing spots for him, but the guy can still play and seems attractive to a playoff team. This sure isn't it.

If he's not I'm totally in on this being a betting thing. March 1 is the deadline for players to be waived and still make a team for the playoffs so it's right around the corner.

If this and Pat Baldwin is basically in-lieu of the Russ-DDR minutes.. great! Elevate Carters role back to where it should, take a couple 20 MPG fliers on Baldwin and Hayes and see what they can do in 20 games. Plowden should be right in the mix for 20+ to end the season here too. Give all of them a chance to differentiate themselves and get a head start on next season and a rotation spot

Yeah IF. The thing is if this is another attempt to find a "PG" so Christie can get whatever the heck his offense even is to work then this is more putting a dress shirt on a turd. Just flush it already and start seeing what players are because sorry Doug, you're just making yourself look more inept trying to "coach" your team to victory, lol. You had your go with established "PG's". You gave it one last go trying to get DeMar to land a W for you. It's done and over with. If he needs a PG to set up his "stars" guess what? They ain't stars. Give them reps and see if they break through.

I think Killian Hayes is good competition for both Nique and Carter. They are all close to the same age. And Hayes has had to battle back from failure. If one of the 3 can become a legitimate rotational piece at guard - it’s a plus. If 2 become rotational pieces, that’s helpful for the rebuild. But none of the 3 has proven that yet.

I am with you there.
