Kings sign Juan Toscano-Anderson

More musical chairs. I expect Keon Ellis to get a full contract soon.

Three guys I want to see more of: Alex Len, Sasha Vezenkov, and Kessler Edwards. Kessler is in a similar situation to Len last season, in that he does not get enough minutes in enough games to show the real impact he can have defending star players, or to get in the flow of the offense.

Kessler doesn't show any improvements this year. Sasha, I will give him chances because he does the little things to win game. Alex Len, he should get minutes...I guess it depends on match up. Ellis, need to do more than just go through motion when he's on the court or he's going to be just another Mitchell on the court. Brown likes guys that does more than just be a spot up shooter....if you can't shoot, you got to be able to contribute in other areas...how's how you get minutes.

This is something i will not underestand soon - the contracts in NBA ... How does a guy who sign less then a month ago for 1 year gor fired after a month without any compensasion or so ... Is he going to be returned to the G-team at least ? Or out of a sudden he is workless ?
And why did we take him if we know we are not going to use him ? He has something like 20-25 minutes in total so far !?

What you need to know to understand NBA player contracts, is the CBA, https://nbpa.com/cba/.

The TLDR, is that the rules by which NBA players and NBA franchises can assign contracts are governed by a negotiated legal agreement between the players union and the league. Various rules have accumulated over the years to try to satisfy the desires of both parties.

An article points out that signing Ellis is one possible result, but that this move may be prelude to a trade:

"Making this move now opens up opportunities for the Kings as the trade deadline approaches. Having an extra roster spot allows the Kings to take on extra players without needing to waive another player first. If the Kings end up not needing the roster spot for trades, it also gives them a spot to promote Keon Ellis to the full roster, or to sign another player from the G League or free agency."

We need good defenders, especially in spot situations. Edwards is the best lengthy wing defender on the team, along with Murray. Both can guard 2-4 well

Don’t be surprised if Monte takes on a semi-bad contract in conjunction with a “supposed” main target so that increases the other teams desire to make a trade. Didn’t we do that with the Bagley deal getting Lyles as part of the deal?
