I just read through this entire thread and this is the only thing I want to post:

So... it's unfair for me, as a fan, to bash the moves this FO is making because they inherited a damaged team and saved the team from moving?
That's what I don't get though, the FO did not save the team nor did they have any hand buying the team. PDA has nothing to do with Vivek saving the team. Nor does Mullin. Nor does Shareef, nor does anyone else involved in our FO currently.

Lol at using internet sites to determine time frames like this.
much better to ignore anything that does not fit your narrative right?
Opinion trumps fact, right.

These sites have tweets with time stamps...from some Wojnarowsky amateur (specifying that rejection happened within an hour from the tweet) and some dude named Amick who actually only retweeted information about Reke's destiny from some uninformed Voison lady who probably just guessed it hours earlier.

please wait to see what landry can bring to the team. ok sounds great.... but wait haven't we seen what landry brings to the team. SG type rebounding and Jimmer like defense.
but but theres a bigger plan! carls a great player with veteran savy!

that was different coaching? im sorry but a coach/regime shouldn't be blamed for lack of hustle and flat out quitting.

please buy into the fairytale 1140 will try to sell on monday instead of discussing how basketball wise this move doesn't make any sense.

is this real life guys? did we seriosuly just sign carl landry for four years... I love Vivek I love Malone.. but PDA has to go before things get worse.. this is rediculous... fire him and correct this problem before it gets worse....

JT is better in every statistical way possible except for post scoring. Of course every year Landry has gotten a little worse, so it might not be long before they're equal there as well.
Except, as I'll keep posting until people calm down so we can rationally discuss things, JT wasn't better in most statistical ways last season (link).

Edit: I'm not saying these stats are gospel, but you certainly can't say they strongly favor JT. And our new FO seems to be very stats-oriented, and in terms of tying to understand their plan, I'd guess they were considering these kinds of things in making the deal.

Wow! The midget duo of Houston are together again. Chuck and Carl lives happily ever after.
Is this the price Vivek have to pay get those votes from the owners?

Dear God!

JT over his career is a better rebounder and alot better defender. landry can shoot a mid range jumper thats it. per 48 he is probably the weakest rebounding PF in the NBA.

This appears to be his argument, just posted on twitter. A strawman once again as is becoming common around here, lumping being grateful for Vivek rescuing the team with the basketball related decisions thus far and/or fabricating the point we're asking for a championship team right away.

Dear @vivek:

Thank you for saving us from the brink of extinction. Now please build a champion in 5 days EXACTLY AS WE SAY.

Is this a joke? Was this posted in the last few days if it wasn't a joke?

Man so many people have run off the rails (which is fine because its a compelling read)

The GM is starting over. He doesn't want more than 2-4 players on this roster and at this point Cousins isn't even a lock to stay. He isn't interested in a stop gap fix at Sf with a contact that runs more than two years. He's not looking for a backup PF that will round out this motley crew. He's probably not giving up any of our limited assets to trade for Asik.

Hes looking for assets, culture / pro basketball players, and stop gaps that help. Next year they want to be functional and grow a few players ... But they don't want to be too good because 4-5 players in the next draft really matter.

The anger and frustration here is based purely upon people's views of the roster and goals of the team. If you can get your head around that, you'll see it. If not, your such a die hard that you'll come around when this bears fruit in 47 months. But it's clear what they've decided to do after Igudala and Calderon passed

Most people pinpoint JT as a 3rd big coming off the bench. Are you saying that Landry is a good starter next to Cousins?

We have gaping holes at sf and center. Not that I buy it, but yes landry could be a slight upgrade. Why would you pay big money over a lot of years for a slight upgrade? Were worse right now on defense then we were pre draft. That is unbelievable, the bar was so low yet they still manage to trip over it.

WOW!

WTF?!

If you are committing $6.5 million per season over the next 4 years to an undersized front court player that can score but does not rebound or defend then you better have a LEGIT shotblocker/defender/rebounder at PF who can play both PF and C defensively because you are not going to get much defence out of Cousins and Landry! The problem is that everything we have done so far suggests to me we are all about offense and can't even spell defense!

There has to be a LOT more to this otherwise this is another ridiculous move by the franchise! Landry is a pro though! He is a nice vet to have around but he needs to fit and as things stand right now, he does not fit! Every move we have made so far does NOT make much sense! WOW!

thats carmichael daves way of being mad because we question the off season moves thus far. He thinks its stupid for us to even raise an eyebrow and the Carl Landry signing. yes the guy that his best season as a PF got exactly 6.5 reb a game getting 37 min

How does 4 years of Laundry for 6.5mil per year fit this narative?

No, you're twisting what is being said.

People are worried it doesn't appear he understands the market, doesn't appear to be fixing our team needs and appears thus far to be winging it. That's far different than what you're implying. And if there are a couple posters going around calling PDA an idiot and that's their argument, don't lump the rest of this side with those few posters and act like that represents the other side.
I said "fans". I didn't say "Rainmaker" now did I?

And that's exactly my point. 6 days into his Kings Career and your saying PDA has no grip on how to build or run a team. That's absolutely maddening and totally bonkers and completely premmature.

I'm sure you'll come back with some excuse about how Im personally attacking you and that you have every right to give up on PDA 6 days into his career. Which is totally fine. Bonkers. But fine

Ya because they instantaneously make the tweets after things happen.

Over paying for mediocre talent is not acquiring assets. If anyone should know this it ought to be Kings fans.

Nope. I think he's fine coming off the bench and providing post offense when Cousins sits (which is a need that I think gets often overlooked). The big next to Cousins needs to be a defender (as I think many of us agree), and now we have two potential bigs in JT and Patterson to swing a deal for that defender, along with our other assets. More moves are coming, I'd guess.
