Hall of Famer
It has been a couple of weeks since Kings had a losing streak of any kind and it returned tonight as Kings decided to spoil Memphis 7 game losing streak. After a strong flirt with .500 which almost turned to an indecent proposal - Kings are back to 23-27 for the first 50 games of the season. Kings started 0-2 on a stretch that involves 8 road games and a home game vs Atlanta in between. It also includes the all star break and the trade deadline. Right now we look like a lock for the 12 draft pick -- yay us. Anyone still doing the playoff math ? Let me help You. It goes like this - 0+0 = 0. Kings go to Houston for the last game before week off with no pressure because they won't be able to play worse even if they try to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
8 more days till the trade deadline or so. We should put up the signs "yard sale." "Buy one get one free", "Everything must go" "no down payment till the draft day" and so on because there isn't much that we can go wrong because right now we have the worst record in the NBA by far. Nothing has been done yet which only means that nothing has been done yet. There is no doubt that Kings are trying to get something done and we might have to wait for the last day and we may be disappointed at the end. I would settle for that team right now that played before Ron and Mike came back from their injuries. That was fun to watch and it worked. This right now is not working well despite some good wins.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
All star game coming up and only thing that I will watch is dunk contest and the 3pt shoot out. What I would like to watch is the rookie vs sophomore game but I don't have the stomach to watch other teams talented young players have fun. We have some guys on this site who are good with stats so I am wondering when was the last time a Kings player was a part of that game if ever and how many teams have been as poor represented as us.
It is not a such a big deal sine some guys need longer to develop and it isn't like our drafts suck. It is just that especially under these circumstances - it would be nice to see a Kings prospect play in that game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
How about organizing a "low stars" game for all the scrubs as an outreach program and air it right between all the debates and the reality shows.
Just imagine:
Venue: MSG (they are used to it)
Refs: Dickie B, VP and Simon from AI
Announcers - Bill Walton and SAS
Coaches: West: E. Muss - East" I.T.
Western Squad: Alston, Hart, R. Bowen, K Brown, J Collins, his brother, Walker, KT, Madsen, Piatkowski, Swift, Horry.
Eastern Squad: Smush Parker, R, Davis, R. Evans, Gadzuric, J James, Mc Innis, Nesterovic, Ruffin, Voskhul, QRich, Foyle and SFM.
Dunking competition could feature the Birdman and no one else because in time he completes a dunk the show would be over. Also any 3 pt shootout involving A Walker is must see TV. The veterans would be represented by Pippen, Rodman, Spreewell and Kevin Willis.

I would actually watch that before the real all star game:eek:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Watching the tonight's train wrack I was wondering which front line I would prefer. The one we have - Miller, Moore, Hawes and KT - or the one that they have Milicic, Brown, Collins, Warrick. It isn't really easy to answer. basically Miller & Hawes are somewhat close with Milicic & Warrick and it is hard to say which toxic nuclear waste is more pathetic. On the other hand when we consider that Their waste has expiring contracts and our waste has a retirement plan - the choice is fairly easy. pairing Brad and Darko would be interesting experiment and Warrick would be a nice back up. Having Brown and Collins play at the same time for entire 2 minutes is some kind of record for the NBA. You put Mikki in there and let them play catch - what a comedy show that would be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We miss Cisco and we miss the good one and the bad one as well because they are inseparable. We miss the energy and the effort as well. Cisco might never be more than an average role player but despite all his weaknesses - his energy is so important for a team that has such a small margin for error and needs every possible edge they can get, I hope that we will make a trade that will get Cisco's role to the point that he was before we got back to full strength because he did have some great games. Get well soon.
------------------------------------------------------------------
After the all star - it is the easy part of the season for me. It is clear that we won't change our position by winning or losing because we won't do much of either really. Also we play mostly in the West which means good teams and we will play spoiler for someone. We also play lakers 4 times which should bring some life around here. At least we can polish our hate. No stress really. Great if we win, good if we compete and not a big deal if we lose. If trades work for us - we even may bet excited for the future. We will have 32 games left and we should enjoy them because after April 15th - it will be another long summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
if You can lose to Sonics - You can lose to Grizzles also especially if You play zone not knowing how to actually play zone. Kings lived and died by Kevin Martin. He went MIA in the 2nd half and so did we. All the other "names" that cost more - were unable to stay with Warricks and Gays of the world. We got outplayed and this might be the first game where we had assists to TO ratio better than 2:1 and lost the game. Pretty awful last 3 quarter we played.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM went to Warrick but Navaro put up a strong fight. this isn't the first time that Warrick got it and it won't be the last
LW-VC went to Lowry but it didn't matter.
RA&1 award went to Collins and it is a mistery how he gets to play in the NBA. Personally, I would rather have
1_202x294.jpg
because it is much cheaper and it fights global warming
Salmons and Udrih share the JHA award for pathetic play
Douby was good enough for SAR & Methuselah award
WTF moment of the game - time out with 12 seconds in the game - WTF ???
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockets are next and they are doing pretty well. They won 7 in a row and 11 of the last 12 games and they way we are playing - it really means absolutely nothing at all. We don't even know which Kings team will show up between two timeouts. It is a back to back game after we got killed in Memphis and it would not surprise me whatsoever if we win the game tomorrow causing some people to hallucinate about playoff hopes and such;). We will need our bench much more than we have gotten tonight and we will need all the "big guys" we have to deal with Yao. Again - anything is possible.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - can he make Refer look like an NBA player ?
Ron - can he finally make 14 million $ per season - somwhere else
Kevin - can he play the whole game
Brad - can he get a triple double
Mikki - can he catch anything but cold

Bench - can they give us more

Coach T - can he avoid another koolaid brake down again ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rockets are 31-20 which is only 9th in the west. They are on a hot streak and they are only 15-9 on at home. Yao will be big. TMac will get the LW-VC award. Scola will get the TDM. Refer Alston will defend his award also. We also have to deal with back to back situation. If I had to bet - I would say - we lose this easily but with kings these days - You never know.

I am wondering when was the last time a Kings player was a part of that game if ever and how many teams have been as poor represented as us.

The last one: 2002, Hedo Turkoglu. Not sure that I have enough data to be able to answer the other question authoritatively, but... I doubt it.

Turkoglu, 2002.

And there are seventeen teams that have sent fewer players to the Rookie Challenge since its inception:

SACRAMENTO
1995: Brian Grant, Michael Smith
1996: Tyus Edney
1998: Michael Stewart
2000: Jason Williams
2002: Hedo Turkoglu

Looking over the patterns of this year, I can't say that I'm expecting a pretty game tonight.

Houston: .608, 15-9 at home. Fighting for the #8 playoff spot, and defending their longest winning streak in years. Rested last night.

Sac: .460, 7-17 on the road. Road record against teams above .460: 1-7. Road wins against WC teams > .460: 0. Playing a back-to-back. Fighting for the #11 playoff spot. :p

So my theme for tonight is: if they don't make us look terr-ble, it's a moral victory.

some how this team plays to the level of its competition, they are going to get our hopes up and win.

At Arco, the team is definitely manic-depressive, and might have a reasonable shot at beating Houston. On the road they are merely depressive. I wouldn't bet the rent on any surprises.

is it bad to go into the all star break on a three game losing streak?

Only if it's preceded by 50 games of such mediocrity and inactivity that you have cemented being out of the playoffs and out of the top ten lotto picks before the All Star break even arrives.

Suddenly, I'm all depressed over this Kings team:( It's not the coaches fault as much as it's just we're so thin on across the board talent we have to get 100% effort and execution to even approach a 50/50 chance on the road. Maybe THIS (supermodel Kings fan Marissa Miller) can get us some luck tonight in H-Town and bring back lots of happy grins:D

Hey! Thanks for that.

And, you know, there are always things to enjoy about the team. My wife and I used to have a drinking game, when the Kings were in a crunchtime situation, we'd each take a drink and cheer for the team. We stopped after the Webber era, as there's only so much a liver can take. But even games like tonight's might be made tolerable that way, if you can find a fun group of fans to join in.

Holy crap that's nice!!:D WOW! lol

Only problem is those aren't fans. They're part of the illustrious dance team.

And yes, we all know those pictures exist. Let's NOT go too far in the ones that are posted here, okay?

isnt she on the cover of the sports illustrated swimsuit edition?

in the girst 4 minutes in the game - only player that has done absoultely nothing is of course Mikki

Alston should be eligible for the TDM award. He could be an NBA starter for 10 years and still be too bad to be disqualified. Ditto for Hayes.
