Kings Prepared To Amnesty Cisco

Crawford has reached out to current Kings players to get a feel for what it's like in Sacramento and if he is to go with the Kings, a source has told CSNNW.com that the Kings will use the amnesty on Francisco Garcia to clear up room. I've not been able to confirm if Crawford has spoken with a Blazer as of yet.
I don't believe that we'd amnesty Garcia unless we need the space to pick up a big time player.

If we pick up Crawford; I have to imagine we've got a trade in the waiting for a big. It makes no sense to pick up Crawford without trading Evans/Thorton/Jimmer for a big.

Just how many shoot-first guard do we need?

On the flip side, hard to see GP amnestying Garcia if he's not confident that AK is coming.

This is being discussed in the Crawford thread, but I suppose its an interesting enough development to deserve its own thread.

Suffice it to say that I consider acquiring Crawford to steal minutes and shots from half the roster, and then tossing our best lockerroom leader overboard to pay for it to be dubious at best. If you treat a real team too much like a videogame, you are playing with fire.

Amnestying Garcia probably puts the Kings at $42 million. Think: $8 million to both Kirilenko and Dalembert, which would put us at $58(the cap). Couldn't we then use a $5 million MLE on Crawford?

well if they sign crawford and amnesty garcia then its an upgrade because crawford >garcia. why is everyone so upset
Because its still going to be incredibly hard to work out a sustainable rotation with crawford. Im not opposed to signing him given the right circumstances but really i think our focus should be elsewhere

I read that the Kings offer is 6.5 million. The Blazers is 5 million and the Knicks offer is 2.5 million. With Roy out, Portland being close to home for him, his relationship with Nate McMillian and the rest of the Portland players who are publicly asking for him to play there, I think that Portland is his best option.

It would make more sense to amnesty Garcia to be able to afford both Dalembert and Kirilenko. John Salmons could play the SG minutes that Crawford would have and we do have Donte and Honeycutt to man the extra SF minutes. Jamal Crawford with AK would create a log jam. Jamal Crawford with Dalembert, I don't think anybody expects.

It's for 6 months, while hijacking to chemistry/balance of our newly formed backcourt, and eating up shots without much return on the investment, given again, it's for only 6 freaking months.

Yes.

And acquiring/retaining Kirinlenko, Hayes and Dalembert all in one offseason would almost have to change our defensive culture. Any frontcourt with those three playing half the minutes would just automatically have to be pretty good defensively. Of course the very open question is whether either of those guys really wants to sign with us for a price we can afford.

Depends on what being on a winning team is worth playing in front of a bunch of crazy fans. Well, your question will be answered in one way or another.

If ALL this happened, we would be a team to be feared.

No sense of using the amnesty when we're under the cap unless a major player or 2 is going to be signed. Hoping for dally and AK but see no sense in acquiring Crawford.

No! You can't have it both ways. The MLE is for teams that start out over the cap. To let a team that starts out 26 mil under the cap, the luxury of spending all that money, and then let them use the MLE isn't going to happen.

Actually, the new CBA gives a new $2.5M, two-year "MLE" for teams that start out under the cap and then spend up to it. Not that Crawford would bite on a $2.5M contract to come here - he already appears to have denied NYK on the same type of deal.

WE would indeed, my fear though is that GP isnt working hard enough to make it happen/doesnt consider it the way he wants to build this team.

Were right on the cusp here and im losing sleep in the hope that he will make these moves
