Practice Quotes-March 10, 2005

Cuttino Mobley:
“Yeah, I’m gonna play tomorrow, I’ll feel a lot better for tomorrow. I’ve been getting rehab the last week and I played today, so.”

Will the offense suffer because of all the new faces?
“Not really. I hope not. We have a lot of guys who are unselfish. But our main focus is to play defense for these last 20 games. Defense brings offense and I have no problem scoring, so I’m not worrying about that.”

How important is it for you to get back out there?
“It’s definitely important. This is the first year that I’ve missed so many games, through Orlando and here. I’ve gotten a bunch of bumps and bruises and I haven’t taken care of my body like I should, but it’s like that sometimes. I need to get out there so I can help out as best I can to make it a little easier.”

What was your reaction to Mike Bibby's shot versus Memphis?
“That was huge, there’s not too much to say about it. It was a great shot, the concentration level was there, it was a good pass by Peja.”

Peja Stojakovic:
Your thoughts on the Memphis game?
“Give credit to Memphis for their defense, we turned the ball over too much, but we were able to regroup, especially the last couple of minutes on the defensive end, and you saw what happened.”

“We feel better. Each and every day I’m felling better, and I’m hoping that over the next couple of games my shot will go in. Tomorrow’s game we’re going to have Cuttino back and hopefully we’ll get Brad back, and it’s time to get everyone back and try to play as a team for the first time after the trade.”

Are you concentrating on defense more?
“I’m trying, I’m trying. There is still a lot of work left, but I thing we’re trying, we’re really helping and talking to each other and giving the effort.”

How nice is it to have guys fill in and be successful with all the injuries?
“It’s been the case for the last couple of years. We’ve always had some guys to step up—it’s just a matter of being ready. All the guys are ready, they’ve been working hard and waiting for their opportunity and now they have their chance. And they’re proving it.”

How was practice today?
“We had like 12 guys. For the first time in a long time we were able to play five-on-five, so it was a good feeling. We were able to work the floor, which was good.”

Thanks for posting the quotes, 3ball!

Hopefully on the local news tonight, they'll interview some of the players and coach so we can hear more.

I like how the players are talking more about defense now. It's also good to hear that they can finally play 5 on 5 in practice. (We're talking about practice here. -Iverson:D)

Does this mean Brad practiced?

Mike, Cat, Peja, Kenny, Eddie, Kevin, Brian, Mo, Tag, Darius, Corliss...that's 11. They could have played 5-on-5 without Brad.

They said that Brad did not practice today.

He is going to be on 1140 in a little bit. I'll give you an update after his interview.

all i know is throughout those quotes i heard defense mentioned at least 3 or 4 times...

i mean as i was reading them i remember thinking "wow they seem to be talking about defense a lot"

woohoo!! gotta love the defense!

i think the guys are finally starting to see how much defense really helps...good for them

and a full 5 on 5 practice....THANK YOU!

eric daniels also practiced. the kings have 14 players on the roster 2 on IL bobby and eric. eric is not injured he is just sitting on the IL.

Regardless of the ultimate outcome this season, I really like the return of optimism that seems to be coming through. Not just the fans, but the players and organization as well. No more fear and dread over the closing of "The Window of Opportunity".

The quote said 12

I think you're taking it too literally. The quote said, "We had like 12 guys." Which could have meant "close to 12 guys." Or, as Diehard Jim pointed out, Daniels might have been the 12th guy to be out there on the court. Those "left knee tendenitis" injuries (or whatever they used to put him on the list) are tricky. One day they're murder and the next it's almost like they're a figment of your imagination.

Being far away and getting second hand answers you tend to focus on clues in players and reporters sentences. I was just pointing out an apperent descrempency. Unfortunately, Brad is still out, I was just hoping.

Could be, iheartBrad. Now that I think about it, it could be left knee tendenitis that the 76ers used to put Matt Barnes on the IL.

I try not to think too much about the IL. It always gets me depressed.

I understand. Sorry. ;)

After all the horrific stuff that's been said in the papers this year, I've totally given up trying to read anything from any of the quotes.

This is music to my ears.

Brad said during his interview that he probably would not play tomorrow.

He said that he is feeling MUCH better and should be ready to go for Sunday.

sounds great.

^well i can't wait to see him on Sunday

i mean who would of thought that he would be out this long...when they first mentioned his injury...well put it this way...i didn't think he'd be out this long

so i guess he'll be ready to battle Yao for Sunday...

G_M said the most important part. ;)

For kingsgurl87 and anyone who cares: Brad said that he went to a Boat Show yesterday and Monday he's going fishing. Talk a little bit about his college team, Purdue. A short talk about continuing to play hard and not allowing easy layups (Kings related:eek: ). Finally, some more talks about fishing and he and his girlfriend is going to be cooking steak for the night. :D

I think Brad must had said 80 "you know" in the span of the 7 mins interview. LOL.

^As you can tell, they didn't talk much basketball...hehe. Brad also talked about how bad his calf/knee? was and went into details about it. But I can't remember since it was a bit..hmm..not something good to talk about if you're eating.

Who said there wasn't optimism before?

Anyhow, practice is good.
